Monolith Soft (株式会社モノリスソフト Kabushiki-Gaisha Monorisu Sofuto) is a Japanese company that has created games for the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, Wii, Nintendo DS and mobile phones. They were founded on 1st October 1999. They used to be a subsidiary of Namco Bandai Holdings. They are best known for creating games for the PlayStation and PlayStation 2, but no longer create games for Nintendo rival consoles as they were acquired by Nintendo in 2007. Monolith Soft was involved with the development of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.[1] They are known for the Xenoblade franchise, and Shulk, the main protagonist of Xenoblade Chronicles, appears as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. 4 (which was coincidentally co-developed by Namco Bandai).
