This tournament is known for Kage's upsets, in which he double eliminated Mango (the player considered the best in the world at the time), defeating him 2-0 in winners' quarters and 2-1 in losers' semis. Dr. PeePee also became known for his Falco placing higher than Mango's at this tournament.
