The Versus Festival was a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate superregional held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India on May 19th, 2024. The tournament is the first Indian Smash event to surpass 100 entrants and as such is currently the largest Smash event in India, shattering DreamHack Hyderabad 2022's record by over 200 entrants, and the largest Asian Smash tournament outside of Japan. The tournament featured talent from all three of India's major Ultimate regions, including all five of Chennai's top 5 players (Mark, McBlaze, yuki_is_asleep, Shaker, and Batrang); all four of Mumbai's top 4 players (aj__siv, RuaanRuaan, Quaylectra, and BCLeo); and McChutney, #4 in Bangalore. In addition, the tournament featured invaders from the United Arab Emirates, including MBG, Seco, Starboy, and Sui.
The event had a unique ruleset that had hazards on and single-elimination for the bracket prior to top 64. Although LumiRank rarely considers single-elimination events, as this was the first Indian event to be above D-tier, the LumiRank team decided to give an exception.
