The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (ゼルダの伝説 トワイライトプリンセス, Zeruda no Densetsu Towairaito Purinsesu) is the thirteenth game in Nintendo's critically acclaimed The Legend of Zelda video game series. It is an action-adventure game developed by Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development and published by Nintendo for the Wii and Nintendo GameCube video game consoles.

Originally planned for release in November 2005, it was delayed by Nintendo so that the EAD staff could add more content and refine the game. The Wii version was released on the dates of the Wii launch, in November and December of 2006. This makes Twilight Princess the first Zelda game to debut at the launch of a Nintendo console. The GameCube version was released in December 2006. Twilight Princess was called The Wind Waker 2 during its early internal development, but was changed to Twilight Princess as development progressed.

Twilight Princess is the first game in The Legend of Zelda series to be rated T by the ESRB, for fantasy violence and animated blood. The game's story focuses on Link as he tries to prevent the Twilight Realm from engulfing Hyrule as both a human and a wolf with the help of a mysterious creature named Midna. It takes place many years after Majora's Mask, on the timeline created after the events of Ocarina of Time.

Super Smash Bros. series

Zelda's Brawl look is based off her Twilight Princess appearance; the same applies to Link's look. Also, Link's weapons have been updated to their Twilight Princess incarnations, such as his Gale Boomerang and his Clawshot. His old Bow has been replaced by the Hero's Bow, and the speed and range of its arrows has been noticably increased.

Ganondorf also receives his Twilight Princess look in Brawl as well. However, his moveset remains the same as in Melee, albeit with new animations and a handful of altered attacks. The fact that his moveset remains generally the same greatly contradicts his Twilight Princess appearance; he only used a sword in that game (aside from jabbing with his elbow or a swift kick; the kick having been translated into Brawl as his new Forward Strong attack). Ganondorf, does, however, show off the sword with which he fights in Twilight Princess with his Down taunt. Masahiro Sakurai made mention of the criticism that Ganondorf receives from fans over the disuse of the blade on Smash Bros. DOJO!!.

The Bridge of Eldin stage is both from Twilight Princess and is the first Smash Bros. stage to be pulled directly from a game. King Bulbin will appear after some time, sometimes followed by a Bulblin, and he can destroy a section of the bridge. The warp portal that brings the bridge piece back is also derived from Twilight Princess. Music from the game also appears on the stage, including Main Theme (Twilight Princess), The Hidden Village, and Midna's Lament.

In Brawl, the Heart Container item has been updated to look like it does in this game.

Aside from the above mentioned changes and additions, many characters from Twilight Princess appear as Trophies and Stickers in the game.
