Round 241: Lucina vs. RoyEdit

Winner!!
Roy

5.5 to 16
Throw-in bonus characters cloned from Marth, but with a very different goal: one unleashes t3h ph1r3 with hilt sweetspots, while the other doesn't care for precision and prefers simplicity. Which one comes out on top?

Votes for LucinaEdit

  1. Galeforce is all you need. Miles (talk) 23:26, 19 May 2017 (EDT)
  2. Meh  Poultry (talk) the God-Slayer 09:57, 20 May 2017 (EDT)
  3. This is a no-brainer for me...  20MK_MetaKing #20MK  21:44, 21 May 2017 (EDT)
  4. Not a single question in my entire life has been easier to answer. Drill Blaster Mark 2 (talk) 04:25, 23 May 2017 (EDT)
  5. I always found that the extra strain of having to be at close range for Roy was a major downside. It basically gives him the worst range for any sword fighter. Also Lucina is a waifu. Alex Parpotta (talk) 17:10, 24 May 2017 (EDT)

Half-votesEdit

  1. This is too easy for me. Lucina Rocks!!!!! -Mapword —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mapword (talkcontribs) 17:08, 24 May 2017 (EDT)

Votes for RoyEdit

  1. Roy is less of a clone than Lucina is. Searingjet (talk) 22:20, 19 May 2017 (EDT)
  2. ROY'S OUR BOY  Aidan, the Wandering Dragon Warrior  23:02, 19 May 2017 (EDT)
  3. There are many good reasons to vote for Roy over Lucina.
    1. He's less of a clone, with mechanics and aesthetics that separate him further from Marth than Lucina.
    2. GBA Fire Emblem > Modern Fire Emblem.
    3. He should have been on the roster from the start, as one of the three clones. This would have opened up DLC development time for Wolf.
    4. He's a fan favorite (our boy), he helped introduce Fire Emblem to international audiences alongside Marth, making him imo the second-most important Fire Emblem character with only Ike challenging that claim, and of course, Roy has t3h ph1r3. John   HUAH! 23:06, 19 May 2017 (EDT)
  4. *insert generic and overused comment about Roy being my boy here* Disaster Flare   (talk) 23:45, 19 May 2017 (EDT)
  5. I hate sounding like bias, but you already know my answer. Also where's Ragnarok when you need him? lol --  Beep (talk) 00:17, 20 May 2017 (EDT)
  6. Roy fits a niche that I don't see many other characters cover: he is a good transition character between swordfighters and brawlers. Roy has the tools of a spacing character, but he doesn't want to space for the entire game unlike Marth and Lucina. He wants to safely close in and land a grab, akin to most brawlers in this game, and his combined combo and tech chase game are some of the best a Smash 4 swordfighter could ask for. b2jammer (talk) 10:10, 20 May 2017 (EDT)
  7. Roy 4ever! Even better than Marth!Rimigafob (talk) 11:47, 20 May 2017 (EDT)
  8. Sure, they're both clones of Marth, but Roy is our boy. (Roy also doesn't have blue hair like Marth) Awesomelink234 Getting down to editing~ 12:06, 20 May 2017 (EDT)
  9. Lucina is just Marth without the thing that makes Marth interesting.   Zyrac(talkcontribs) 12:21, 20 May 2017 (EDT)
  10. Another no-brainer in my opinion. Better if it had been Ike vs. Roy.   DracoRexKing, Creator of the Land 13:00, 20 May 2017 (EDT)
  11. Roy's our boy! He is a great Fire Emblem combatant in Melee and I like him! Dragonfirebreath25 (talk) 13:22, 20 May 2017 (EDT)
  12. Roy is much more different than Marth, so I prefer him over Lucina. Also he keeps the original netural B in Smash 4, so that's a plus. --Vinc420 (talk) 00:20, 21 May 2017 (EDT)
  13. Because of the fire and also because FE Heroes makes him look cooler, plus introduced me to a ton of FE characters because of FE Heroes, so yeah.  Pika Just got Pokemon Alpha Sapphire! 19:14, 21 May 2017 (EDT)
  14. Okay, I know that some people, including Fire Emblem fans themselves, call Roy a little shit but he, along with Marth of course, helped popularized the series to North America and I don't see why hating fans don't respect that. MHStarCraft   19:16, 21 May 2017 (EDT)
  15. Roy's hilt sweetspot mechanic is a quality unique to him as a character. Lucina's sword is functionally identical to all of the other swords in the SSB series. Combos are possible with both characters, but Roy's weapon stands out from the rest. Everyman Or Nobody? (talk) 19:31, 23 May 2017 (EDT)
  16. I love cracking a cold one with our boy. ChuckNorris  20:58, 26 May 2017 (EDT)

Round 242: Gamer vs. Shadow Moses IslandEdit

Winner!!
Shadow Moses Island

6 to 9
Stealth is the deal with these two stages, though with very different results: a harmless "!" or a violent ejection. Which nighttime excursion finds the victory?

Votes for GamerEdit

  1. Both stages do a great job of representing their source material aesthetically, but Gamer's more fun from a gameplay perspective. Those side walls on Shadow Moses are just annoying in practice. Miles (talk) 12:58, 27 May 2017 (EDT)
  2. Much more fun than SMI. Also SMI kinda forces you to do vertical KOs, which gets annoying. --Vinc (talk) 17:37, 27 May 2017 (EDT)
  3. One of the best-designed stages in Smash.   Zyrac(talkcontribs) 17:49, 27 May 2017 (EDT)
  4. Unlike Shadow Moses Island, this is actually a stealthy stage. It's really fun perfect shielding the Mom with Jigglypuff. Kirby's Crazy Appetite ~   18:12, 27 May 2017 (EDT)
  5. Much easier to fight on, and 5-Volt is actually fun instead of just annoying. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe DatNuttyKid. 22:27, 27 May 2017 (EDT)
  6. The stage appears different each time. ZeldaStarfoxfan2164 (talk) is a never lover boy 10:55, 28 May 2017 (EDT)

Votes for Shadow Moses IslandEdit

  1. I like the REX/RAY in the background  Poultry (talk) the God-Slayer 12:26, 27 May 2017 (EDT)
  2. Codec Conversations. Searingjet (talk) 13:04, 27 May 2017 (EDT)
  3. Mei Ling, Samus took her clothes off!!!Alex Parpotta (talk) 15:52, 27 May 2017 (EDT)
  4. One of my favorite casual stages in Brawl. It's got a great design that is unique in the Smash series (I actually like the walls lol), and good music (Calling to the Night is hardly fight-worthy, but it is easily top 5 in terms of Brawl's soundtrack). Snake's Codec Conversations are great. To be fair, Gamer is a decent stage in its own right (Ruins (Wario Land: Shake It!) is a good song), but I dislike the wonky camera angles and prefer the more realistic Metal Gear stage. John   HUAH! 18:01, 27 May 2017 (EDT)
  5. Codec conversations. Nuff said.  Aidan, the Wandering Dragon Warrior  14:31, 28 May 2017 (EDT)
  6. What John and Aidan said. --  Beep (talk) 01:12, 29 May 2017 (EDT)
  7. Metal Gear fan reporting. Plus Codec Conversations. Don't gotta say anything else.   Ragnarok320, The Toa of Fire (talk) 11:52, 29 May 2017 (EDT)
  8. Shadow Moses Island's Codec conversations make it stand out from most of the other stages in Brawl, a trait certainly absent in Gamer. Gamer offers one stage hazard; besides that, it is as usual a stage as any one else. SMI is simply more appealing to me. Everyman Or Nobody? (talk) 13:32, 29 May 2017 (EDT)
  9. A great stage with Codec Conversions! Mei Ling and Otacon are part of it! Dragonfirebreath25 (talk) 17:57, 29 May 2017 (EDT)

Round 243: Trophy Lottery vs. Coin Launcher vs. Trophy RushEdit

Winner!!
Coin Launcher

6 to 12 to 3
Every game with trophies needs to have some way of collecting them, and here they are - which test of skill and/or luck is the most popular?

Votes for Trophy LotteryEdit

  1. Has a CLASSIC song, listened to it an hour straight before. Also, you don't need to do shit unless you have trouble pressing the A button. In that case how did you get to the Trophy screen? Kirby's Crazy Appetite ~   12:04, 3 June 2017 (EDT)
  2. The easiest way to quickly obtain new random trophies without too much work. ZeldaStarfoxfan2164 (talk) is made in America 13:08, 3 June 2017 (EDT)
  3. I luvs it,  Poultry (talk) the God-Slayer 17:20, 3 June 2017 (EDT)
  4. Best music. Trophy Rush is boring, and after playing Touhou, Coin Launcher can feel pretty dull, especially when you're waiting for a new trophy. -- Her Majesty, Queen Junko, 23:02, 4 June 2017 (EDT)
  5. One, you have control over what trophies you get. Two, not every trophy is available from the start. Three, it's much less time-consuming. RickTommy 21:00, 9 June 2017 (EDT)
  6. The lottery was a pain to deal with, but I really like the nifty music that plays in the background. ChuckNorris  00:43, 10 June 2017 (EDT)

Votes for Coin LauncherEdit

  1. I find it more fun than Trophy Rush and unlike the lottery you do something, which I find more enjoyable than just clicking a button. You can play as long as you want unlike in trophy rush, as there is no time limit. --Vinc (talk) 12:34, 3 June 2017 (EDT)
  2. It's kind of relaxing, don't you think? Definitely holds my attention better than Trophy Rush.   Zyrac(talkcontribs) 13:09, 3 June 2017 (EDT)
  3. I still haven't gotten the Shagohod trophy yet... John   HUAH! 13:16, 3 June 2017 (EDT)
  4. The best version of the Brawl main theme is the one for this minigame. Besides, the Trophy Lottery is just "it's new or it isn't", and Trophy Rush is just kind of dull. (Not to mention cheesing it with Bayo once she came out...) Miles (talk) 13:22, 3 June 2017 (EDT)
  5. Fun minigame in Brawl with the coins you have during the game! Best one here. Dragonfirebreath25 (talk) 13:48, 3 June 2017 (EDT)
  6. Fun minigame in its own right, and you can get trophies and stickers from it. Alex Parpotta (talk) 02:56, 4 June 2017 (EDT)
  7. Ahhhh... fun times when you played this... no time pressure, no need to pay a toll each time you play it despite a coin's higher rarity compared to the sequel, plus a higher potential of coins unlike the previous game... and it felt a lot like playing Space Invaders. In Trophy Lottery, you pay a toll of up to 20 G each time you want a trophy, and you have a minimum of 49 chances to get a rare trophy compared to the whopping maximum of 9,999 shots you get to shoot rare trophies, assuming a full stack of coins. Maybe you get higher amounts of trophies in Trophy Rush, alongside custom parts, but there's not a rarity system that makes it easier to get any rare one of both groups, you have to pay a toll of 900 G to get 2:30 minutes to play, the game mode can get boring and repetitive, and the less game knowledge and skill you have, the harder it is to get a trophy. In Coin Launcher, no toll is needed to be paid, and no true skill is needed, just decently fast reflexes to shoot everything in your way and as much coins as you can afford. You also get rare trophies at a surprisingly faster rate than you would expect. It can often be repetitive, but it is still much more fun than Trophy Rush.
TL;DR: Trophy Lottery sucks, Trophy Rush is kinda meh, Coin Launcher is where it's at!! --  Beep (talk) 03:15, 4 June 2017 (EDT)
  8. Where people wasted all their coins. I love Trophy Lottery, but I have to go with this since I played it a lot more than I'd like to admit. Trophy Rush is absolute dogshit though, and just one of my many complaints with Smash U's single player content.   Ragnarok320, The Toa of Fire (talk) 11:30, 4 June 2017 (EDT)
  9. In Melee, you press a button and get a trophy. Not exciting. In Smash 4 you break falling boxes...which is kinda lame. In Brawl, you shoot coins out of a launcher into incoming missiles and whatchyamacallits...which is definitely my favorite of the 3. Serpent   King 19:20, 4 June 2017 (EDT)
  10. I had a huge internal debate between this and Lottery, but in the end, the only thing I really like about the Lottery is the nostalgia. The coin launcher minigame was a lot of fun. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe DatNuttyKid. 19:22, 4 June 2017 (EDT)
  11. This game is fun to play. It's frantic when multiple trophies appear at once.   A51 Trooper 04:19, 5 June 2017 (EDT)
  12. I've had the most experience with Coin Launcher (so far) and really enjoyed it and it's music. I like Trophy Rush and the Trophy Lottery's music, but Coin Launcher gets my vote. Smash Master 13:54, 9 June 2017 (EDT)

Votes for Trophy RushEdit

  1. Bayonetta's held up air. All I'm gonna say.  Aidan, the Wandering Dragon Warrior  11:00, 4 June 2017 (EDT)
  2. Falling Boxes are the best! ETS 6:32 June 7 2017 (EDT)
  3. Who doesn't enjoy smashing things? AmoongussForLife  Talk 15:03, 10 June 2017 (EDT)

CommentsEdit

Coin Launcher is fun in Brawl and with all of the coins you've accumulated in the game, you can use them as ammo to get trophies and stickers! This is a great way to complete your collection! Dragonfirebreath25 (talk) 22:14, 4 June 2017 (EDT)

Round 244: Mega Charizard X vs. Mega LucarioEdit

Winner!!
Mega Charizard X

9 to 3.5
These popular Pokémon both bring Mega Evolutions to the table. Is it the dark dragon or the awakened anubis that wins this bout?

Votes for Mega Charizard XEdit

  1. I like him better, not going to explain so no one gets triggered ;)  Poultry (talk) the God-Slayer 16:07, 10 June 2017 (EDT)
  2. More interesting design.  Nyargleblargle (Contribs) 17:38, 10 June 2017 (EDT)
  3. Not really because of Smash Bros., since I'm bad at both Lucario and Charizard so it wouldn't matter much to me, but Charizard X is just too cool of a design not to vote for. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe DatNuttyKid. 18:31, 10 June 2017 (EDT)
  4. Charizard is my favorite Pokemon, while I really couldn't care less about Lucario. No brainer.   Ragnarok320, The Toa of Fire (talk) 13:18, 11 June 2017 (EDT)
  5. A great Pokémon in my favor! This is my mega choice! Dragonfirebreath25 (talk) 19:44, 12 June 2017 (EDT)
  6. In Pokémon, I find among the best Mega Evolution designs and it's one of my favorites to use. In Smash, it might be restricted to only two moves, but still feels more unique than Mega Lucario, which is just a Lucario reskin with maxed out Aura.   DracoRex, Creator of the Land 18:18, 14 June 2017 (EDT)
  7. Lucario is boring --Myth   21:25, 14 June 2017 (EDT)
  8. I'm still bitter over Lucario having functionally replaced Mewtwo in Brawl. ...Not exactly a very deep and meaningful vote, but it suffices. Everyman Or Nobody? (talk) 22:04, 14 June 2017 (EDT)
  9. RAWR XD ChuckNorris  22:50, 16 June 2017 (EDT)

Votes for Mega LucarioEdit

  1. You actually get to use your full moveset, unlike mega Charizard who is limited to just two moves. Alex Parpotta (talk) 16:05, 10 June 2017 (EDT)
  2. Don't you just love getting killed at 10% :/ Kirby's Crazy Appetite ~   17:27, 10 June 2017 (EDT)
  3. Gotta vote for my favorite Pokémon.  Aidan, the Wandering Dragon Warrior  20:40, 15 June 2017 (EDT)

Half VotesEdit

  1. Mega Lucario is just amazing, especially on small stages. Also, Lucario is my fave smasher! (For some reason, it's showing this in comments...) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mapword (talkcontribs) 17:24, June 14, 2017

Round 245: Ridley vs. Metal Face vs. Yellow DevilEdit

Winner!!
Ridley

9 to 7 to 2
The three stage bosses of SSB4 seek superiority amongst one another: Yellow Devil the Infamous, Metal Face the Cruel, and Ridley the Unkillable. Which big lug takes the title?

Votes for RidleyEdit

  1. I generally find this the most fun boss to fight in training mode (which I do a lot since boss battles mode was removed in SSB4), due to having the widest variety of moves, two stages, and more health than the other two bosses, making it more challenging. It's also fun to have up to three CPUs fight as well, as the fighter who is immune to Ridley's attacks shifts rapidly. Oh yeah, and also in free for alls, you can get Ridley to fight for you. Alex Parpotta (talk) 12:01, 17 June 2017 (EDT)
  2. I'll admit randomly ending up on Pyrosphere when you don't want to can be annoying, but Ridley is the most developed stage boss, with a bigger moveset than the others and more impact on the fight.   Zyrac(talkcontribs) 12:18, 17 June 2017 (EDT)
  3. Yellow Devil is fairly weak and incredibly bland while still somehow being annoying to deal with; Metal Face is stronger and therefore more boss-like, but still pretty bland; Ridley is strong and interesting. My vote is obvious. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe DatNuttyKid. 00:13, 18 June 2017 (EDT)
  4. It's fun to beat up Ridley, especially in Giant Smash.   A51 Trooper 03:52, 18 June 2017 (EDT)
  5. Ridley da best --Vinc (talk) 03:51, 20 June 2017 (EDT)
  6. Ridley is the coolest of the three. His attacks are awesome, plus he's a dragon! MasterTabuu (talk) 16:23, 21 June 2017 (EDT)
  7. *obligatory joke about Ridley's size* ChuckNorris  21:57, 22 June 2017 (EDT)
  8. I like him 172.58.120.42 18:02, 23 June 2017 (EDT)
  9. Metroid loves Ridley and for me, he did appear in Brawl as a boss! Dragonfirebreath25 (talk) 21:51, 23 June 2017 (EDT)

Votes for Metal FaceEdit

  1. "WHATEVER YOU'RE DOING, IT LOOKS...SMASHING! AHAHAHAHA!"  Aidan, the Wandering Dragon Warrior  11:49, 17 June 2017 (EDT)
  2. Gonna have to give my vote to him. I love both Xenoblade and Mega Man, but compared to Metal Face, the Yellow Devil is a pain to fight and has no personality to speak of. As for Ridley, I've never been too fond of Metroid.   DracoRex, Creator of the Land 11:55, 17 June 2017 (EDT)
  3. The only one who hasn't KO'd me. Ridley always kills because he's overpowered as hell, and Yellow Devil screwed me over in a Sudden Death by shooting those beams at me. Kirby's Crazy Appetite ~   12:01, 17 June 2017 (EDT)
  4. Metal Face is fantastic antagonist in Xenoblade, and the game does an extremely good job at just making you absolutely despise him. He's absolutely despicable and he knows and enjoys every second of it. Part of me still wishes he hadn't been killed off at the game's halfway point and practically shoved aside for the actual main antagonists.   Ragnarok320, The Toa of Fire (talk) 00:24, 20 June 2017 (EDT)
  5. Not much to say, other than that I like his design best out of the three bosses, he appears to be the best villain of the bunch, and I associate him with Engage the Enemy, one of the best songs in Smash 4. John   HUAH! 12:29, 20 June 2017 (EDT)
  6. The least annoying stage boss and definitely entertaining in his own game. James Heart 10:27, 23 June 2017 (EDT)

Half-VotesEdit

  1. Metal Face is one of the best villains in Nintendo games, period. I hate the stage layout of Gaur Plain, but I usually choose it to fight Metal Face and listen to his sarcasm :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yarael-BJ-Poof (talkcontribs) 10:03, June 19, 2017
  2. Edges out Yellow Devil thanks to the humor.  Nyargleblargle (Contribs) 16:50, 21 June 2017 (EDT)

Votes for Yellow DevilEdit

  1. As a Mr. Game & Watch main, Yellow Devil's energy beams can be easily abused with Oil Panic. It's not exactly an honorable offensive strategy, but it is certainly an effective one. Everyman Or Nobody? (talk) 17:28, 17 June 2017 (EDT)
  2. Easy choice :) Rimigafob (talk) 16:36, 19 June 2017 (EDT)
