Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4

NOTE: SmashWiki is not speculative. Please refrain from adding detailed data values derived from pre-release gameplay footage, such as the E3 demo. Such data (damage values, launch trajectories, frame data, etc.) are subject to change before the official release.

Aesthetics

  •   As with all veterans returning from SSB4, Diddy Kong's model features a more subdued color scheme. Like Donkey Kong, his fur is less detailed than the previous installment.
  •   Diddy Kong is more expressive. His hat also appears to be "looser" around his head, popping off slightly while performing many actions.
  •   Diddy Kong now faces more towards the screen. As a result, his stance, moveset, and animations are now mirrored.

Attributes

  •   Like all characters, Diddy Kong's jumpsquat animation now takes three frames to complete.

Ground attacks

  •   Diddy Kong's neutral attack appears to now end with a quick side kick instead of attacking rapidly with his tail (though it is possible Diddy Kong can pick between a series of rapid hits or a single finisher hit).

Special moves

  •   Diddy Kong can now hold Peanut Popgun on either right hand or left hand depending on the direction he turns towards.
  •   Monkey Flip travels a shorter distance.
  •   Banana Peel has a snappier animation.
  •   Diddy Kong appears to throw the Banana Peel much higher than before.
  •   Banana Peel appears to have more startup lag.
  •   Rocketbarrel Barrage's function is changed. Diddy Kong now flies through the stage in an erratic fashion, ending in one final Rocketbarrel blast.
  •   Rocketbarrel Boost's range was shortened.
