Roy (SSBU)

Roy (ロイ, Roy) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He was officially confirmed on June 12th, 2018. It is currently unknown if he will be voiced by Ray Chase, his voice actor in Fire Emblem Heroes, or if he will only be voiced in Japanese.

Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4

Aesthetics

  • Change As with all veterans returning from SSB4, Roy's model features a more subdued color scheme.
  • Change Roy's dashing animation has been altered.
  • Change Some of Roy's moves, such as his down aerial, have fire effects added to them.

Aesthetics

  • Buff Roy's neutral attack appears to have an altered animation, granting it more vertical range.

Special moves

  • Buff As with Marth and Lucina's Dancing Blade, Double-Edge Dance transitions significantly faster into each hit.
  • Buff Like with most non-storeable charge moves, Roy can now turn Flare Blade to the opposite direction upon releasing the move.

Trivia

  • Roy's pose in his official artwork resembles his forward tilt. This is also similar to pose Roy performs in his splash art for Super Smash Bros. 4.
