Hi... How's it going? I'm a pretty avid Smash player. I'm not competitive or anything like that, but I can preform wavedashing, L-Cancelling, SHFFLing (sometimes), and the basic stuff. I'm a huge fan of EarthBound/MOTHER and my best and favorite Smash character is Ness. I also tend to play Samus, Mewtwo, Kirby, Zelda, Ice Climbers, Ivysaur, Roy (Our Boy), and a whole lot more. Yeah, I use a ton of characters and you can add Rosalina to that list for Smash 4! Also, Falco>>>>>>>Fox in every way possible!

My (Very Long) Smash History Story Thing... Yeah... Read If You Want...I Guess
I first played Smash in the summer of 2002. I was with my cousins and they were playing this weird new game that I'd never heard of before called "Super Smash Bros. Melee". However, once I saw Mario and Link in the game, (I had previously played Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time) I instantly wanted to play. I forget who I chose first, but I remember seeing all sorts of weird characters that I had no idea who they were like Ness, Samus (and yes, I did think she was a guy), Captain Falcon, and all of those guys. Eventually, I got a GameCube and Melee and I loved it. I always would play it with my friends. I normally only played Mario or Link, however, along the way, I found a different character or characters. Cue my first main, the Ice Climbers. Everyone I played with (including me) thought these two were terrible. I decided to play them one time as a joke and, to my surprise, I dominated with them. Also, I always played as Nana and I always will. Sorry, Popo... Anyways, I eventually started to use them in favor of Mario or Link and soon Kirby, Mewtwo, and Samus came around and I was a "pretty good" casual player.
A few years later, I learned that a brand new Smash Bros. had come out on the Wii and that made my buy one. All of my beloved mains from Melee were there, well, except Mewtwo, which made me pretty mad. However, I quickly picked up King Dedede and Meta Knight (as I had played the Kirby games over the course of time) and was just as good as I was in Melee (if only I had known about Meta Knight...). Then, one time, I was playing Brawl with a friend and we started talking about the hardest character to play as and came to the conclusion it was Ness. I then made it my goal to learn how to play Ness and I did.
Along the way, I thought to myself: "Who is this guy?" One Google search later, I discovered he was from a game known as EarthBound. I read the synopsis of the game and it sounded very interesting to me. I eventually decided to play EarthBound, however, after learning that its price was much more than I was willing to invest in at the time, I settled on the infamous emulators to play. I personally thought that the game was only going to be okay or something I would simply put down after awhile. Boy, was I wrong. I loved the game. In fact, it managed to pass none other than The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which had been sitting at the top of my list since I first started playing video games.
However, after that, I slowly grew away from Smash and started to play it less and less. However, my appreciation for Nintendo wasn't gone at all and I spent this time going back and playing all the classic games of the various characters like Super Metroid (which also managed to grab the number 8 spot), Star Fox, Fire Emblem, F-Zero, and more.
Then, in early 2013, I learned that a new Smash was going to be shown at E3 and I was pumped and started to get back into the games again. The trailer was amazing and I knew I was getting this game on day one. My friend and I then started to replay the SSE mode from Brawl on intense. It was during that replay that we learned that Smash was a competitive game and that there was such thing as a "tier list" which I'm so-so towards. In December, my favorite female character in gaming, Rosalina, was announced as a playable character in the new Smash and I flipped out. In April, my dreams were crushed when Sakurai trolled the child within me who only wanted Mewtwo back. Then, I realized Greninja didn't mean anything and Mewtwo could still be in and I still hoped he was... However, he wasn't. Let's pray the connection rumor is true!!! But, it isn't... DLC?!?!?!?!?!?! And on October 23, 2014, my wishes were granted as Mewtwo was announced to be playable in the game as DLC which will release in Spring 2015, free for people who own both versions of the game.
I thank you for reading this. You deserve a metal.

Super Smash Bros. 4
Alright, so since I don't have enough opinions and experience with the entire cast yet, I'm basically going to describe the attributes of the characters I know pretty well. This will be here until I form an actual tier list. Once again, like my tier lists, this is COMPLETELY opinionated when it comes to what characters I think are good.
Ness
- Ness has been DRASTICALLY buffed for this game and this is hands down his best incarnation in Smash.
- PK Flash can travel a farther distance and, while the hitbox looks smaller, it's basically the same size as the previous two games (just look at Ness's hitboxes on his Melee page). However, it still is way too slow and risky to use outside of ledge guarding and a situational juggle.
- PK Fire is weird in this game. However, in my opinion, it's the second best iteration of the move we've had (excluding Lucas' PK Fire and Project M Ness's PK Fire) only behind Brawl's PK Fire. I would tie it with Smash 64's PK Fire, but Smash 4's is much faster, and it's a 1000 times better than Melee's PK Fire (which was total crap). The reason I consider the move weird is because of it's hitbox. So far, it seems like there's three hitboxes in the flame pillar: two on the outside which are easier to escape from and tend to cause the opponent to bounce out of it (kinda like Melee's PK Fire) and one on the inside which traps the opponent much better and seems to make them rise. PK Fire is very useful for gimping especially if your opponent has a Up Special that they must charge (like Fox). Basically, if a recovering opponent runs into PK Fire, it will explode into the pillar, halting their recovery. If your opponent has a charging recovery, they must charge it to recover, again. However, the PK Fire pillar will interrupt the charge every time, causing them to plummet to their doom. PK Fire's distance has also been drastically increased which makes it really useful for baiting. Basically, just throw it out and see what your opponent does. If they move back, throw out another PK Fire. If they move forward, run in for an attack. If they jump, get ready to use an aerial on them. If they sidestep or get caught in the pillar, run in for a grab and a throw. Down throw can extend into a FAir or UAir. If they are on kill percent, you'll want to use a UAir, Back Throw, or a charged forward smash to get the job done. Overall, it's a ton more useful.
- PK Thunder is much more useful overall. It's faster, which improves Ness's recovery, and it is bigger which makes it easier to juggle opponents with it for an easy 8%.
- PSI Magnet is actually useful now. The size is HUGE. No joke, I was in shock when I saw how big it was at first. It's roughly a little more than twice the size it was in Brawl. It also has less ending lag, making it easy and helpful to use in the midst of battle.
- It STILL doesn't do damage! I mean, come on, Sakurai?!? Is that too much to ask?
- Ness's aerials are all much better than previous games.
- NAir has ALOT more range and is pretty useful for spacing, considering that it covers both sides of Ness. It's also useful for throwing opponents off of you, like in previous games, and can be a KO move.
- FAir is EXTREMELY good. It's much different than the previous games. The hitboxes now "lock" the opponent in the PSI sparkles for the duration of the attack and the attack does around 6%-8%. FAir is one of his best moves not only for spacing, but also for combos, due to its low knockback. Anyone trying to learn Ness should get used to using this move. My favorite combo with it is Grab > Down Throw > Jump > FAir > Double Jump > FAir (low percent) or UAir (kill percent).
- BAir is just as good as always. It's a reliable KO move.
- UAir is also very good with high vertical knockback. It can be used as an KO move and will KO most of the cast at a low percent.
- DAir functions differently. Ness kicks his foot out to release a single PSI sparkle, sorta like Lucas' DAir in Brawl and PM. The sparkle is an extremely powerful meteor smash. It's really hard to land, but it's worth it. Don't trust Ness's SSB4 page on this site when it makes it look like this move isn't good! It's a really good move, just hard to land! Practice makes perfect with this one!
- His back throw, like always, is among the best in the game, being able to KO a majority of the cast at a low percent.
- His down throw can easily set opponents up for combos.
- Ness's forward smash is among the best in the game. Similar to his back throw, it can KO a majority of the cast at a low percent.
- It's range is WAY less than it was in Melee.
- Ness's Smash 4 page is COMPLETELY WRONG when it says that bumping into a wall with PK Thunder 2 doesn't make him helpless the first time. I've tried it numerous times from various angles on Yoshi's Island and it hasn't worked once. It could possibly be a glitch that is only in the Japanese version or just taken out of the international releases all together.
- Like in Brawl, Ness cannot Double Jump Cancel. :(
