Jayden Murphy is the top Australian Smash 64 player, his rise to dominance beginning in 2018 after winning both Australian majors that year. He has lost four console tournaments in the country since then (three of which came at the hands of international players), with his lowest placing being 3rd.
Having picked the game up competitively as a 14-year-old during a time where there were (and still are) no active players in his city, Quincy had to rely almost purely on Project64k, Training Mode and Online play to improve. He cites wario's performance at GENESIS 3 as inspiration for picking up Pikachu but plays a variety of characters outside tournament environments and is similarly inspired by the likes of Jouske, Isai, Kurabba and DSC. His dedication to his craft is exemplified through sheer time spent playing the game, especially in both 2016 and 2017, going as far as playing during class while in high school.
His first console tournament appearance came only a year and two months after having began playing competitively, at the renowned Battle Arena Melbourne 9, with the presence of the entire Australia scene and SuPeRbOoMfAn adding to the prestige, with Boom proclaiming, “Yeah this guy is gonna be the best in Australia” after having played only a handful of games against him
His appearance at Super Smash Con 2022 marked the 5th time (and 4th person total) an Australian has travelled to the US to compete in Smash 64, managing to place 17th in singles with wins over Czar, lord narwhal, Loto and Killer. Teaming with lord narwhal in doubles, the two finished 7th with wins over Darkhorse & Josh Brody and Take & Prince, and managed to take a game off eventual champions Isai & tacos in pools.
A year later he would return to the same tournament and make Division 1 pools in singles while not advancing, having to face the fiercest of opponents such as KeroKeroppi (4th place) and Isai (winner). In doubles he would team with Shears and place 13th with losses to great teams such as Queso & heny935, Paco & Shihman, tacos & Alvin, and eventual runners-up Take & kysk
His donation of $2500 AUD to the 64 League helps contribute to a renaissance of the game and develop an entirely new meta as players and fans alike attribute their own enjoyment of the game to the consequence of watching the best in the world duke it out on the main stage of Super Smash Con. Funds for the game have been dispersed internationally and competitors find themselves with a new found love for a game, as wario confirms his attendance for the upcoming Inka Fest 2
