Article on Bulbapedia Zoroark (Pokémon)

Zoroark (ゾロアーク, Zoroark) appears in Super Smash Bros. 4 as a Poké Ball and Master Ball Pokémon. When summoned, Zoroark catches fighters, then slashes them with its claws using Fury Swipes akin to some Trapping Final Smashes, specifically Greninja's. In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, it will not appear until having cleared 10-Man Smash. Except for the final hit, Zoroark's attacks are considered projectiles, which means that if it attacks a character wearing a Franklin Badge, that fighter will only take damage from the final hit.

Origin

Zoroark is a Dark-type Pokémon introduced in the Generation V games Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version. Interestingly, it is the only non-Legendary Pokémon native to the Unova region that is never accessible in the wild. Instead, in is only available in these games in two instances, both of which require the player to have particular special event Pokémon: If the player arrives at Lostlorn Forest with any one of the shiny Legendary Beasts that have been fatefully encountered, a female Zoroark will appear and challenge the player. The other instance involves the player arriving at Castelia City with a fatefully encountered Celebi, although this results in the player gaining access to a Zorua, Zoroark's pre-evolved form. However, this trend is broken in the Generation VI games Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, where it can be found in the wild. It evolves from Zorua starting at level 30. Zorua and Zoroark have the signature Ability Illusion, which allows them to pose as the last Pokémon in the party they belong to while retaining their moveset and typing. However, getting hit by any attack will cause the illusion to fade completely. Zoroark can learn Fury Swipes at level 13 as a Zorua or via Move Reminder.

Trivia

  • Goldeen and Zoroark are the only Pokémon that can come out of Master Balls that are not Legendary Pokemon.
  • Smash Balls will not appear while Zoroark is on the battlefield and vise versa, possibly due to Greninja's Final Smash being identical to Zoroark's Fury Swipes, as having both moves occurring at the same time could potentially be confusing.
  • There is a glitch where, if Zoroark is summoned and targets a character using a Back Shield, then Zoroark's final blow never hits the character, leaving the character spinning until they are hit by an attack. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXAfWX2HKK8
