Kazuya (カズヤ, Kazuya) is an upcoming playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He was officially announced at the E3 Nintendo Direct on June 15th, 2021 as the fifth downloadable character from Fighters Pass Vol. 2. He is the first playable fighter from the Tekken series, and the second character from Bandai Namco after Pac-Man. Kazuya is classified as Fighter #81.
Moveset
Kazuya's moveset is heavily derived from his home series. Several of his moves involve him briefly morphing into Devil Gene Kazuya before turning back to normal.
- Tsunami Kick: A high kick followed by an axe kick, similar to one of Ken's special command inputs.
- Searing Edge: An aerial side kick. Presumably his forward aerial.
- Flash Punch Combo: Two quick punches from his left hand followed by a stronger punch from his right hand.
- Steel Pedal Drop: Grabs his opponent by the leg and slams them on the floor behind him. Presumably his back throw.
- Flash Tornado: A tornado kick, similar to Ryu's far tapped forward tilt.
- Nejiri Uraken: Spins, kneels, and strikes with his fist from underneath, creating a small burst.
- Crouch Spin Kick: A rotating kick from below.
- Twin Pistons: Two small uppercuts, with his left hand making a weak strike followed by his right hand making a slightly stronger strike.
- Sternum Smash: Punches while grabbing the opponent. Presumably his pummel.
- Jumping Sobat: An aerial kick from behind him. Presumably his back aerial.
- Spinning Demon to Left Hook: Does a low sweeping kick followed by a hook from his left hand.
- Dragon Uppercut: An electrified uppercut with his left hand.
- Tombstone Crusher: Gets on his back and kicks from the floor.
- Gates of Hell: Bends the opponent's back, then kicks them away. Presumably one of his throws.
- Wind God Fist: Dashes forward and does an electrified hook.
- Crouch Jab: A punch while ducking.
- Roundhouse to Triple Spin Kicks: Does a roundhouse kick, followed by three spinning kicks, which each one getting higher.
- Rising Toe Kick: A high upwards kick. Presumably his up aerial.
- Stature Smash: A low-angled kick in front of him.
- Crouch Dash: He is able to dash while crouching. It is unknown if it does damage.
- Left Splits Kick: Stretches his left leg all the way up before swinging it down to do heavy damage.
- Stonehead: A headbutt. Presumably his forward throw.
- Demon God Fist: An electrified punch that briefly stuns opponents.
- Oni Front Kick: A short kick in front of him that results in a burst.
- Double Face Kick: Kicks his opponent twice in the face before throwing them.
- Demon Scissors: From the air, he swing his leg downward. Presumably his down aerial.
- Jump Side Kick: Quickly jumps and does a side kick highs in the air.
- Demon's Wrath: Starts with a high-angled kick with his left leg, then a low-angled kick from his right leg, followed by a short punch in front of him that creates a burst.
- Leaping Sidekick: Leaps forward and kicks in front of him.
- Jumping Knuckle: Strikes diagonally downward while in the air, and can meteor smash, much like Ryu, Ken, and Terry's down aerials.
- Air Inferno: Throws the opponent upwards, then transforms into his demon form and shoots a beam diagonally upwards at them. Presumably his up throw.
- 10 Hit Combo: A series of 10 hits: two left-hand punches, a right hand punch, a backhand strike, a left up kick, a right axe kick, a right low sweeping kick, a left low kick, a right electric punch, an a bursting uppercut.
- His Final Smash has him, in his devil form, shoot out multiple lasers from his chest and wings that strike opponents.
Victory poses
- Flying kicks in, then punches towards the player in his devil form, before transforming back to normal while holding the punching pose. Based on one of his victory screens in Tekken 7. The announcer similar to the one from the Tekken series can be heard in the trailer, but it is unknown if this applies to the final game as well.

Trivia
- Kazuya's repeated act of tossing other fighters into a volcano during his reveal trailer is a reference to Heihachi Mishima doing the same thing throughout the Tekken franchise, as well as Kazuya tossing Heihachi off a cliff in his endings in Tekken 1 and Tekken 7.
- The segment with him and King K. Rool about to punch each other is a reference to the Bandai Namco logo animation in Tekken 7, with K. Rool replacing Jin Kazama.
- Before his Final Smash is shown, he is shown slamming Incineroar into the ground. Incineroar is a stand-in for King, a Tekken character who's a wrestler with a jaguar mask.
- Kazuya's fighter artwork is the only one that features a glimmer on any part of the character (in Kazuya's case, his left eye).
- The splash art for Kazuya is the second that uses a font other than DF Gothic Japanese, the first being that of Piranha Plant.
- The 3D text for his "Gets ready for the next battle" tagline is taken from Tekken 7 's battle loading screen, albeit with "Get" replaced with "Gets" to be grammatically correct.
- While originally the protagonist and main hero of the original Tekken, his descent into villainy starting with Tekken 2 makes him the second third-party playable antagonist as well as the second DLC antagonist after Sephiroth.
- Strangely, the UK version of the Super Smash Bros. website says "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate x Kazuya" instead of Tekken in one of the banners. However, the UK video presentation still says Tekken. This is similar to how in the US broadcasts of Nintendo Directs, some M-rated games had their name censored with a character's name, usually the protagonist or a prominent character. Though, even more strangely, Tekken is only rated T, rather than M, by the ESRB, although PEGI gives the games a 16+ rating.
- Kazuya's name is written in kanji for the Tekken series, but on the Japanese website for Ultimate, it is spelled out in katakana.
- Kazuya's inclusion marks the second time a Tekken character has appeared alongside characters from Fatal Fury and Final Fantasy, as Geese Howard and Noctis Lucis Caelum appear in Tekken 7.
- His inclusion also marks the sixth time a Tekken charater has appeared alongside characters from Street Fighter, as Akuma appears in Tekken 7, Tekken characters appear in Namco X Capcom and the two Project X Zone games, and both universes crossed over in Street Fighter X Tekken.
