Changes from Super Smash Bros. Brawl

  •   The Stamina mechanic is gone, and every Pokémon can stay out indefinitely now.
  •   Pokémon Change can now be used in the air, and is much quicker.
  •   Squirtle appears to have a new dash animation that involves riding a water wave.
  •   Charizard's side special, Rock Smash, has been replaced with Flare Blitz.

Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4

These changes only affect Charizard, who was a single fighter in the previous game.

  •   Now that it is part of the Pokémon Trainer rotation again, Charizard's down special Rock Smash, has been replaced with Pokemon Change, effectively eliminating the special move.

Aesthetics

  •   Leaf, the female Pokémon Trainer from FireRed/LeafGreen, makes her first appearance as an alternate costume.
