DK's resemblance to a yeti

I don't really see how that's relevant just because it says so on the DOJO!! Neither do we strive for being an exact replica of that site, nor for serving as Sakurai's biography. – SmiddleT 13:43, 18 July 2011 (EDT)

Agree. Forbidden7  13:45, 18 July 2011 (EDT)
What does the Dojo prove at all? --FireEmblemFan275 (talk) 15:40, 18 July 2011 (EDT)
Nothing really. Omega Tyrant   16:28, 18 July 2011 (EDT)
Well, we can't just put "resembles a yeti" (that links more to the real world without citation from the DOJO!!). If we can do that, then we can also put "Squirtle's green palette makes him look more like a turtle". Not saying it necessarily needs to be put back, but it's better to remove the whole yeti thing than to just keep part of it. Blue Ninjakoopa(Talk) 22:33, 18 July 2011 (EDT)
Agreed. When I made that edit I was a little dubious to it myself, actually. The only thing I wanted to do was getting rid of the "according to the Dojo". If the only reason that the fact was pointed out was how it was written on the Dojo, then it should rather not be there at all. – SmiddleT 06:12, 19 July 2011 (EDT)

DK white costume proof

Look like =/= made to look like. Big difference, buddy. --FireEmblemFan275 (talk) 23:47, 18 July 2011 (EDT)
Exactly the point. Blue Ninjakoopa(Talk) 00:06, 19 July 2011 (EDT)
I don't see any necessity in pointing out what every palette swap happens to look like. Better just show what every palette swap is based on, if anything. – SmiddleT 06:15, 19 July 2011 (EDT)
What is it based on then? Care to show us, buddy? --FireEmblemFan275 (talk) 22:51, 22 July 2011 (EDT)
Not every palette swap is necessarily based off of something. Omega Tyrant   22:56, 22 July 2011 (EDT)
I never said that every palette swap is based off of something. --FireEmblemFan275 (talk) 23:06, 22 July 2011 (EDT)
Your 22:51, 22 July 2011 post implied as such. DoctorPain99 {ROLLBACKER} 23:36, 22 July 2011 (EDT)
I was asked him what it was based on. It implied absolutely nothing. If your going to lie then try harder at it. --FireEmblemFan275 (talk) 21:37, 23 July 2011 (EDT)
It's possible that he's referring to what I said. I never said that every palette swap is based on something. Notice the "if anything" part at the end. – SmiddleT 19:37, 23 July 2011 (EDT)

Light Blue or Cyan?

Should we use light blue or cyan in the following sentence:

Light Blue: A Light Blue* Yoshi.

*This links to the Cyan Yoshi article on the Mariowiki. --107.5.57.137 19:14, 9 August 2011 (EDT)

The Melee one was clearly cyan, but this one's a little harder. I'd say cyan though. Smiddle 君怒る? 19:16, 9 August 2011 (EDT)
I don't feel that it has to be changed, though. I mean, it wouldn't be incorrect to refer to him as "light blue". Smiddle 君怒る? 19:17, 9 August 2011 (EDT)
The palette names go by the colors seen in Brawl's tournament mode. Yoshi's indeed shows up as cyan, and in the main series the official name for that color Yoshi is Cyan Yoshi. So it's safe to change it to Cyan, which is what I'm gonna do. Furthermore, I'm going to do this for all the articles (well, Melee's and Brawl's). My references are the tournament modes of said games. When you change colors for the characters, their name changes to the color you want your character to be (ex. Regular Mewtwo is Purple. I'm going to make sure the pages don't say anything like "Violet" or "Royal Blue") (in Brawl, there is a tab that changes color as you change your character's color). If you'll excuse me. Blue Ninjakoopa(Talk) 20:45, 9 August 2011 (EDT)

glitch

Here's a way to make all characters the same character and color scheme without shading.

  1. P1- choose a character and color scheme
  2. P2- choose that same character
  3. P1- turn to N/A
  4. P2- change to color scheme that P1 was using
  5. Turn Team Battle on
  6. P1- turn to human
  7. Turn Team Battle off

DKC two diddies and two Donkey Kongs?

Hithere. I read that both DKs' palette swap sections say that they are based on player 2 from Donkey Kong Country when the same Kong is selected, but I don't recall being able to do so! Actually I pureposelly read some faqs and they all say P1 is Donkey and P2 is Diddy in DKC while P1 is Diddy and P2 is Dixie in DKC2. So to me those statements are just spam. Then, maybe I am the DK-noob, eh.--Kombatgod (talk) 20:24, 7 January 2012 (EST)

R.O.B. in Startropics

I deleted the sentence stating that R.O.B.'s blue outfit is based on his appearance in StarTropics. Here's a pic from the game:

[1]

He looks all but blue! I'd say the pink outfit is more similar, but still that one's probably just based on the US SNES.--Kombatgod (talk) 11:09, 18 January 2012 (EST)

Since this issue has been brought to the forefront by this edit, I propose taking a closer look at whether R.O.B. actually resembles his StarTropics incarnation. The image I found is less pink and more blue than the one above it:

File numbers

Are these really necessary? This is not a hacking guide, and I find it to be unnecessary clutter for the average reader. Miles (talk) 15:10, 26 May 2013 (EDT)

Having the numbers there doesn't automatically make it a hacking guide. The numbers are relevant encyclopedia content. Awesome Cardinal 2000 15:16, 26 May 2013 (EDT)
I think I agree with Miles. I have no problem with including them, but the way it's done on the page makes it looks cluttered. DoctorPain99  15:37, 26 May 2013 (EDT)
Would moving them to a subpage, something like "Palette swap (SSBB)/File numbers" be acceptable? Miles (talk) 16:02, 26 May 2013 (EDT)

Samus's color pallet swap influences

Samus's gravity suit in super metroid was magenta as seen here http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-w1BvKmuJQSk/T80J84gukMI/AAAAAAAASZw/gPSvXw1LD-w/s400/Super+Metroid_00044.bmp not purple, it is much closer to the pink color in brawl 24.218.161.224 14:35, 27 December 2013 (EST)

Her green color is not based on anything the power suit sprite in super metroid is clearly yellow. 24.218.161.224 14:35, 27 December 2013 (EST)

That looks more purple than pink to me. Omega Tyrant   14:44, 27 December 2013 (EST)
It seems more purple. I looked at this image instead since the other one you linked to has a lot of other colors (since they appear to be the same suits from the same game it's not like one image would display a different color for her suit). Using a color extractor, there was only a little pink in that image of her suit which were those really light spots on her armor (which makes sense since according to Wikipedia "Pink is a pale red color") and it was mostly shades of violet that made up the image and her suit (so it would be closer to purple than pink). Also, I'm not sure how it can be magenta, but closer to pink than purple? BRAWLS   OF  FURY 15:50, 27 December 2013 (EST)
Yep, it looks more purple. Scr7 (talk · contribs) 16:06, 27 December 2013 (EST)
the only part that looks even remotely similar to the purple color in brawl on that image is the shading, and that picture is actually darker than the player sprite, but still it's clearly magenta
if you think this & this show the same color gravity suit then you're colorblind 24.218.161.224 19:47, 27 December 2013 (EST)
You did not refute what Brawls of Fury said. Additionally, look at the image Miles posted on your talkpage, the official artwork of the gravity suit in Super Metroid, and what do you know, it's look exactly like the purple suit in Brawl, not the pink suit. Also, comparing a SNES sprite to a fully rendered model is bad form, considering the limitations of the SNES sprite does not allow it to look exactly like the model does.
Plus, regarding your colorblind comment, consider the proverb "if you think everyone else is the problem, you are likely the problem". I.e., everyone else is seeing the SNES sprite as more purple, you are the one who is having difficulty recognising colors, especially when BoF already proved it was more purple.
And for one more thing, do not post images directly on the talk page, it is not necessary and it breaks the formatting of the page. Omega Tyrant   20:48, 27 December 2013 (EST)
