Anti planking is a technique in Super Smash Bros. Brawl to counter Meta Knight's powerful planking, widely considered broken by the Super Smash Bros. Brawl community. If performed incorrectly, the player may self destruct.

Performing the technique

The technique was discovered by Logic and put on Youtube by VideoGameBootCamp. Anti-planking is described simply by VGBootCamp as shielding Metaknoght's up aerial to make it go through shield lag. During this, the character then SDI's off the stage and hits Meta Knight as his up air cools down. However, if Meta Knight does not input an up air at all, the anti-planking character's SDI input will be rendered as either a roll towards the ledge or a spot dodge, leaving the character open to a punish. This can be performed with and against other characters. The timing for preforming Anti-planking against other charactors is much more lax.

Anti-planking methods

Diddy Kong

After SDI'ing off the ledge, Diddy Kong can buffer a down air to hit Meta Knight. An advantage of this is that Diddy Kong likely will not self destruct.
