Captain Falcon (キャプテン・ファルコン, Captain Falcon) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He was confirmed on June 12th, 2018.

Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4

Aesthetics

• As with all veterans returning from SSB4, Captain Falcon's model features a more subdued color scheme. His model and textures otherwise appear unchanged.
• The top of his racing suit is now a piece of armor.
• The text on the back of Captain Falcon's "Blood Falcon" costume variant reads "HELL HAWK" instead of "BLOOD HAWK" as it appeared in previous installments.

Ground attacks

• Captain Falcon has a new forward smash: a backhand punch enveloped in fire.

Aerial attacks

• Neutral aerial seems to launch opponents at a slightly lower angle.

Special moves

• Like several other powerful attacks in the game, Falcon Punch displays a dramatic slow motion effect when it successfully hits an opponent.
• Falcon Dive has Captain Falcon flash with an orange tint when grabbing an opponent. It additionally has a new animation, in which he grabs his opponent with one hand while leaning more, and the flip after grabbing an opponent now has him spin slightly.
• Raptor Boost now has a slightly altered animation, and seems to gain Captain Falcon super armor, if the move connects.

Trivia

• Interestingly, the text that reads "HELL HAWK" on the back of Captain Falcon's "Blood Falcon" costume variant was originally what the text read during the development of Super Smash Bros. Melee, but was changed to "BLOOD HAWK" in the final version of the game.
