Starting from E3 2013, Masahiro Sakurai began posting one new screenshot from Super Smash Bros. 4 every weekday in the Miiverse community known as the Director's Room, as well as on the official website for the games. Known as the "pic of the day" series, it was initially just a posting of a screenshot with no information or comment about it provided, but after the start of July he also began adding comments, that were a remark about the screenshot or information about what the screenshot was portraying, which were translated into English by Nintendo of America localiser Nate Bihldorff. In the beginning, the pic of the day series mostly consisted of random screenshots with Sakurai giving no real information about the game, with few being updates of actual information, and barely any of them being something significant. As the series went on however, the proportion of them being updates with actual information gradually increased, and since the start of 2014, nearly all of them have been some sort of informative update, with each week having multiple significant updates. The series ended on December 5, 2014. This page is an archive of these posts.

SSB4 Orbital Gate 1.jpg
Pic of the day. This is the Orbital Gate stage. This is a Wii U version-exclusive stage reenacting Team Star Fox's defense of the Orbital Gate from an Aparoid missile attack. Provides the name of the previously revealed Star Fox: Assault stage and further details of its layout and setup.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSB4 Orbital Gate 2.jpg
Missiles are launched towards the Orbital Gate! The force field shields the machinery for a while, and the missiles eventually get shot down by team Star Fox. Overall, this stage feels like a ride. It's pretty hectic, so hold on tight!
SSB4 Orbital Gate 3.jpg
The Arwings are passing through the gate! And the fighters hop on for a free ride!!

SSBU Sheriff.jpg
Pic of the day. This assist trophy is Sheriff. Sheriff was an arcade game released in 1979. In this game, the players aim by choosing one of eight directions to shoot using a second joystick separate from the one that controls movement. It was quite a revolutionary game for its time. For shooting games overseas, it's common to see games that utilize the left stick to move around and the right to determine the direction to shoot, so we can say the origin of modern shooting games was this game--which is pretty remarkable. This is the first official mention of the Sheriff Assist Trophy.

SakuraiRelease.jpg
Pic of the day. Finally, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is being released overseas. Congratulations!! With the game released globally, from here on out I'll be posting about some of the hidden elements in the game. However, for now they'll only trickle down a little bit at a time. I'll be done with posting new pics by the end of the year, so I hope you'll enjoy the rest of the ride. Announces worldwide release of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.

InternationalConquestMode.jpg
Pic of the day. Conquest mode is now open to overseas players. This is when things finally get serious. We've increased the frequency for updates, too. The Global Smash Power rankings will get interesting with more players involved. Connect online, and keep updating your status. This screenshot is the result from the last Conquest challenge. (image is from the Japanese version) Announces Conquest mode is available in the West.

AmiiboWiiU.jpg
Pic of the day. For the first time ever in the Super Smash Bros. series, you can play with a collection of real-life trophies in the form of amiibo. Simply touch them on this part of the GamePad. This particular screen is dedicated to activating amiibo, but you can also tap your amiibo on the GamePad at the character-selection screen to let that character join the battle. Gives details about amiibo and how they will work.
Miiverse Icon.png
FPWiiU.jpg
Once you do, the trophy of your amiibo character transforms into a Figure Player (FP)!! FPs fight and develop on their own.

FlyingMenSakurai.jpg
Pic of the day. The Flying Men that appear in the Magicant stage will ally with the first fighter that touches them. Watch out for their flying cross-chop attacks! They also accumulate damage, and a grave gets erected every time a Flying Man falls in battle. And of course, only up to five Flying Men can appear at a time. First look in the Pics of the Day of Ness. Also first mention of Magicant as a stage.

WiiUTrophyShop.jpg
Pic of the day. Here's the Trophy Shop for the Wii U version. It operates identically to the 3DS version, but it sure has a different feel, doesn't it? First look at the Trophy Shop in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

HRContest3DS.jpg
Pic of the day. Unfortunately, I've been too busy working on developing the Wii U version that I haven't had a chance to play Home-Run Contest with my Global Smash Power turned on. So fighters, with the game now released worldwide, how are you faring with your home-run distance and Global Smash Power? I wonder if Ganondorf gives you some advantage. First textual mention of Ganondorf's playability.

SSBU Bass Treble Trophy.jpg
Pic of the day. Here's Bass, a trophy for the Wii U version!! When I first saw this, I was really surprised by the quality of this trophy and Treble's presence. Even though this will only appear as a trophy, this was made from the ground up. Designers really are amazing. Confirms four new trophies from the Mega Man series for the Wii U version.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSBU Zero Trophy.jpg
Zero's here too!! There are also trophies of Roll and Proto Man.
October 14, 2014
SakuraiTrophyHoard.jpg
Pic of the day. Now here's a challenge… Find Stalfos!! (Difficulty Level 3) This is a close-up of a specific area in the Trophy Hoard, but the search will be more challenging if you zoom out. You can change the alignment of these trophies by holding down a direction on the +Control Pad while you're entering Trophy Hoard.

SakuraiWiiUTips.jpg
Pic of the day. Tips will display in three columns in the Wii U version. There's more content, which includes descriptions of the original games. This game seems to never run out of easter eggs, even if you play it normally. Knowing that this will get translated into multiple languages, I shouldn't go overboard with the contents, though.... First look at tips in the Wii U version.

SSBU Zael Trophy.jpg
Pic of the day. Zael from The Last Story grabs some Superspicy Curry from Master Hand. "No…! You mustn't let that curry lure you in…!!" In the Wii U version, you can take photos of dream collaborations and funny situations with your trophies in the Photo Studio. Confirms a trophy of Zael from The Last Story and the presence of Photo Studio, which appears to be functionally identical to Diorama mode in Brawl.

SSBU Rules 1.jpg
Pic of the day. Here's the settings menu for Rules. Comical pictures appear on the left when you go through the options, so I'll briefly introduce them. Shows the Rules menu for the Wii U version and confirms that all rule options will be available without unlocking. The Damage Display picture confirms Temple as a returning stage, and the Rules picture implies the return of Coin Battle.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSBU Rules 2.jpg
Going clockwise from the top-left corner, here are the pictures that appear for Rules, Time Limit, Custom Fighters, Stage Choice, Damage Ratio, and Handicap.
SSBU Rules 3.jpg
In the Wii U version, you can customize additional rules from the beginning of the game. Here are the pictures displayed for Stock Time Limit, Team Attack, Pause Function, SD Penalty, Damage Display, and Score Display. You can almost hear Fox's cry in the picture displayed for SD Penalty settings.
October 21, 2014
SSBU Xenoblade Trophies.jpg
Pic of the day. The trophies from the Xenoblade series can be found mostly in the Wii U version. Here's Melia looking the other way. Confirms several Xenoblade trophies for the Wii U version that are not present in the 3DS version.

Duck Hunt Duo Teaser Picture.jpg
Pic of the day. Here's what's happening behind the scenes in one of the secret fighter's shooting moves. The object being held is called an NES Zapper. This is an accessory which was released for the NES outside of Japan. Now, this image is edited, but it's a scene from the secret fighter's reveal video. Teases the video reveal of Duck Hunt for the movies in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
Miiverse Icon.png

PunchOutScreenWiiU.jpg
Pic of the day. The giant screen in the Boxing Ring stage for Wii U reenacts the multiscreen effect seen in the arcade version of Punch-Out!! Looks like their aliases are displayed on the screen too.

8-Player Smash Original 8.jpg
Pic of the day. At long last, the Wii U version supports eight-player multiplayer!! It gets pretty hectic watching eight people duke it out at once. For more details, check out "Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50-Fact Extravaganza" (“Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50 Must-See Things”).

And here's a stage prepared for a large number of fighters, Big Battlefield!! Fighters can spread out, so it should be easier battling on a stage like this.

SakuraiShulkAltsWiiU.jpg
Pic of the day. The color variations for Shulk are all based off outfit colors of his travel companions… excluding one of them. Lucina's color variations are also based off the female characters in Fire Emblem Awakening.

SakuraiWiiUClassicMode.jpg
Pic of the day. Classic mode in the Wii U version is set up like a battle coliseum with multiple fighters teamed up with each other. Move your trophy and join in anywhere you want. You can see faint images of stages on the platform--the number of fighters clustered on those images indicates the number of fighters you'll face. As you can see, this feature leverages the fact that the game supports multiplayer with up to eight players. Explains the arrangement of Classic mode on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
Miiverse Icon.png
SakuraiWiiUClassicMode2.jpg
After each battle, the fighters that lost get blown away!! The fighters remaining on the field will once again team up with other fighters on the field. You can actually choose fighters you've blown away to join your team in team battles. A rival will always appear in this mode, and the longer that character survives, the stronger it will get.

Pic of the day. "Your finger stinks!!"
Miiverse Icon.png

"It is bitter, yet tasty."

SakuraiStageBuilder.jpg
Pic of the day. In Stage Builder, you can draw lines on your Wii U GamePad to create stages!! It might not be the easiest stage to battle on, but you can even make stages like this one. For more details on how this works, check out "Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50-Fact Extravaganza" (“Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50 Must-See Things”).

SSBUClassicMode.jpg
Pic of the day. Here's the Fiend's Scale in Classic mode. When you raise the intensity in the 3DS version, the effects looked similar to a picture book. However, for the Wii U version, as you raise your intensity it looks like you're falling deeper into the underworld. The very bottom looks ferocious. Shows off setting the difficulty in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and how it changes the background. Jigglypuff can also be seen in the second picture.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSBUClassicMode2.jpg
The field in Classic mode has five different backgrounds determined by the intensity level. On low intensity, the background looks peaceful, but on high intensity, the atmosphere gets pretty intimidating.

SSB4SmashvilleCoinEvent.jpg
Pic of the day. Jackpot Opportunity is one of the Events in single-player mode where you aim to collect 1,000 Gold to pay off your loan. This scenario uses Coin Battle rules. Reveals a new event and also gives more info on one revealed during the Direct. Jigglypuff is shown again, and is directly mentioned for the first time in a PotD.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSB4GamerRestEvent.jpg
It's Past Your Bedtime sets up another predetermined situation for a single-player Event. In this one, Jigglypuff needs to put every fighter to sleep at the same time. There are quite a few scenarios like this that aren't simply brawls.

SSBUWoollyWorldPotD.jpg
Pic of the day. Here's something we didn't even announce in "Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50-Fact Extravaganza"(“ Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50 Must-See Things”)--a stage from Yoshi's Woolly World. This stage was added and developed quite near the end of development. The surfaces are soft and cushiony. Announces a new stage for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Woolly World.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSBUWoollyWorldPotD2.jpg
The mobiles are placed in different locations depending on the situation, and they tilt according to weight distribution. The stage also gets rearranged, so the ground may disappear temporarily during a remodel.
November 7, 2014
SSBUWuhuIslandPotD.jpg
Pic of the day. Here's a new stage, Wuhu Island. Flying around Wuhu Island may remind you of the Pilot Wings stage, but this time we tour famous locations on the island. Another new stage for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is announced, Wuhu Island.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSBUWuhuIslandPotD2.jpg
For example, here's the starting line of a power-cruising race. You may also find yourself at a mountain summit, in front of a fountain, on a suspension bridge, in a fighting arena, or riding on a boat. The stage really feels like a resort vacation.
SSBUWuhuIslandPotD3.jpg
I've been so busy with developing this game that I dreamed about tropical islands every time I saw this stage. …Beaches in the summer are great, aren't they?
November 10, 2014
Master Beast 2P Wii U.jpg
Pic of the day. Playing Classic mode with two players means you can battle the Master-type opponents together…but your opponents will also be powered up. The foe in this picture is Master Beast. Reveals that bosses will be stronger in Classic mode when playing with two players. Also confirms that Master Fortress is single-player only.
Miiverse Icon.png
Master Fortress Shulk Wii U.jpg
The Wii U version-exclusive Master Fortress is only available in single-player mode. You'll need to attack its heartlike cores.
November 11, 2014
SSBUTemplePotD.jpg
Pic of the day. In earlier Smash Bros. games, the Temple served as a prototypical large stage. Now it's remastered beautifully in HD. Confirms the addition of new Hylian text on Temple. The Hylian text says スマツシユ・ブラザーズ (Smash Brothers).
Miiverse Icon.png
SSBUTemplePotD2.jpg
The one large change we made to this stage is this Hylian text. I wonder what it says? Also featured in this pic is Link in Fierce Deity colors.
November 12, 2014
SSBUMarioCircuit8PotD.jpg
Pic of the day. Here's another new stage!! The Mario Circuit stage is modeled after Mario Kart 8, so the course flips upside down. Provides extra details on the Mario Circuit stage.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSBUMarioCircuit8PotD2.jpg
On the upside-down course, Shy Guys jump their karts upside-down too!! It's amazing how the course twists on this stage. Of course, the gravity for the fighters will always go downward.

[For users in the Americas] Starting today, you can pre-load the Wii U version. If you’re interested in purchasing the digital version, you should be able to start playing right away on the game's release day without having to deal with a potentially congested server if you use this feature. Check out the link below for more details.

SSBUMoviesPotD.jpg
Pic of the day. Long before the game release, we revealed new fighters with videos. The video quality of online streams is not always the best, though. Luckily, you can watch them as they were meant to be in Movies mode on the Wii U version. Introduces Movies in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Newcomer trailers and ending videos are included, in the best quality.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSBUMoviesPotD2.jpg
You can even re-watch videos that play after you clear Classic mode and Allstar mode. This is a list of videos which are unlocked when you clear certain things. They tend to be short, but you'll get a lot of information if you play them all in one sitting.
November 14, 2014
SSBUSmashTourPotD.jpg
Pic of the day. Smash Tour is really hard to explain in words--it's tough to give out guidance tips with such limited space to type!! So I'll stop myself from saying too much--just try playing this mode three times with your friends. Smash Bros. will definitely feel even more like a party if you try this out. Shows all available maps for Smash Tour.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSBUSmashTourPotD2.jpg
There are three types of game boards. If you turn on the Custom Fighters option, the fighters will be preset with custom special moves. The number on a fighter's portrait on the game board indicates which custom move set that fighter is using--this also adds to the randomness of this mode.
November 17, 2014
SSBUWFTKartPotD.jpg
Pic of the day. "Intensify your activity by dodging a rampaging car".
Miiverse Icon.png
November 18, 2014
SSBUStadiumPotD.jpg
Pic of the day. You can play co-op in all the games in Stadium mode!! In Home-run Contest, you can either work together or compete by taking turns launching Sandbag.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSBUStadiumPotD2.jpg
The batting order gets determined randomly to make it fair for the poor person that has to go first. Target Blast and Home-run Contest are games that you play over and over again, but you might find unique ways to play when you only have one shot at victory.
November 19, 2014
SSBUMasterpiecesPotD.jpg
Pic of the day. We've added Masterpieces in the Wii U version--this is where you can look back on what fighters did in the past!! You can actually play the games too. First look at Masterpieces for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. The Japanese pictures have different layouts due to different release dates and games. The post can be seen here.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSBUMasterpiecesPotD2.jpg
Some of the Masterpieces aren't unlocked at the beginning of the game. It's impressive that there are even games from the Game Boy. Some games have different starting points, while others come loaded with save data.
November 20, 2014
SSBUConnectToPotD.jpg
Pic of the day. You'll need to link the 3DS version to the Wii U version to get them to work together. Luckily, this is easy. On the 3DS version, you simply select the Wii U option, and select the 3DS option on the Wii U version. Shows players connecting between Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSB3DSConnectToPotD.jpg
This is what the screen looks like on the 3DS version when you link it with the Wii U version. We included this hoping that it might work as a remedy when you don't have enough controllers.
November 21, 2014
SSBUTitleScreenV1.0.1.jpg
Pic of the day. The day has finally arrived. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is now available in the Americas!! I hope you'll enjoy this game's many modes and play it as you see fit. Announces American release of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Also shows settings for the Wii U Pro Controller.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSBUWiiUProControllerPotD.jpg
Here's a look at the controls screen for the Wii U Pro Controller. We needed to match the default settings for all controllers for buttons such as L and R, but there must be players out there that want to use the ZL and ZR Buttons for shielding. You can set the controls closer to the GameCube controller if you set the B Button for standard attacks and Y for special moves.

Set up your controls however you like in Controls.

November 24, 2014
SSBUMyMusicPotD.jpg
Pic of the day. Here's a little tidbit about the song names in My Music. The tracks with a red icon are song arrangements made for this game, and the ones with the black icons are arrangements from past versions. What might be a little confusing is that some track names from Super Smash Bros. Melee are now stage names for this version. The track Corneria from Melee isn't a song that plays in Corneria in the original game, but we couldn't change the name of the track. Sorry for any confusion. Explains tracks in My Music, and reveals that Metal Face has different quotes if Shulk is in the match.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSBUMyMusicPotD2.jpg
We've included four versions of the Mute City music tracks. The regular Mute City track is from Melee, Ver. 2 is from Brawl and Ver. 3 was specifically arranged for the 3DS and Wii U versions. The track from the original game is in here too. This game probably has the most music tracks compared to any other game.
SSBUMyMusicPotD3.jpg
In Sounds, you can even listen to voices of some enemies. Metal Face has as many voice variations as the fighters…He'll say something a little different when Shulk is on the field.
November 25, 2014
SSBUOrbitalGatePotD.jpg
Pic of the day. The Orbital Gate, which was shown in yesterday's post, looks like a space station, as you can see in this picture. There was also a pic of the day where the fighters are going through the center gate.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSBUOrbitalGatePotD2.jpg
…By the way, this model is actually a trophy. Diorama style. The Orbital Gate Assault stage actually took a whole year to complete.
November 26, 2014
SSBUGamerPotD.jpg
Pic of the day. In the Gamer stage, the stage set-up will change at random. Here's Mom appearing from an easel. You'd better stay on your toes.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSBUGamerPotD2.jpg
Mom even appears out of the TV. Sometimes she jumps out of it and walks around. It gets a little crazy. The guy in the far window is Grandpa, who acts as Mom's decoy. His wig is swaying.
November 27, 2014
SSBUSmashTourPotDSecond.jpg
Pic of the day. Here's a basic size of the map for Smash Tour. The card suits and star marks are check points. You'll get a full-round bonus if you pass them all, and you'll get a strength bonus if you stop on any of them.
Miiverse Icon.png
If you look reaaally closely, you'll see that by rolling a 5, you can pass through the center of the map to the other end. This means that you'll have an advantage if you keep rolling 5s!! Trophies like Ashley's that slow down the roulette wheel may help you out here.
November 28, 2014
SSBUWreckingCrewPotD.jpg
Pic of the day. Congratulations to the European region where Super Smash Bros. for Wii U was launched today!! Today's post is completely off-topic though. It's the Wrecking Crew stage. When you make the bombs explode, the shock from the explosion transfers to the walls and destroys them. When there are only two panels or less holding up a floor, the floor will crash down, making the stage change constantly. Announces European release of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSBUWreckingCrewPotD2.jpg
You might get stuck inside a metal barrel that falls from above. Players can attack you while you're stuck, so get yourself out by mashing buttons.

SSBUOrdersPotD.jpg
Pic of the day. When you play Master Orders in Special Orders mode, you will need to use a certain amount of gold to buy a ticket to enter. If you win the challenge, you'll get a reward determined by the difficulty level. The challenges may sound simple, but playing them on Very Hard is quite challenging. Explains Master Orders and Crazy Orders.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSBUOrdersPotD2.jpg
On the other hand, the rules in Crazy Orders are very different. You'll earn one turn for every win, and each turn gets harder and harder. Some of your accumulated damage will get carried over. Crazy Hand will challenge your after 2 turns, so you'll earn your rewards if you beat him. The final battle will be an HP battle and the more accumulated damage you have, the more HP you'll have in the fight...so the trick is to be a little risky.

SSBUGroupOptionsPotD.jpg
Pic of the day. Two-player options were added to a wide range of modes in this game.

-Classic
-All-Star
-Events
-Home-Run Contest (up to four players)
-Multi-Man Brawl (up to four players)
-Target Smash!! (up to four players)
-Trophy Rush

Have fun with your siblings and friends.

Multi-Man Smash and Target Blast are mistakenly written as Multi-Man Brawl and Target Smash!!.

SSBUFlatTrophiesPotD.jpg
Pic of the day. Some characters were displayed flat in their original games, so we made some trophies flat as well. For example, flat trophies from Rhythm Heaven and WarioWare
Miiverse Icon.png
SSBUFlatTrophiesPotD2.jpg
Strike different poses when viewed from behind!! The designers made these from scratch for this game--thank you, designers. There are other trophies that may strike a completely different pose, and some may not even show their backs at all.

SSBUamiiboPotD.jpg
Pic of the day. To train your amiibo, it's important to give them hands-on time in battles. If you play against your amiibo with the same character, you can act as its teacher and help them learn moves easier.

That said, it's also important to "feed" your amiibo equipment so you can make them stronger and give them special abilities.

Shows how to train your amiibo and use Equipment.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSBUamiiboPotD2.jpg
The effects in red show when a special ability will have a negative impact, but this is not necessarily a bad thing since the equipment might raise your amiibo's overall stats. It's also important to note that there's a limit on how much you can level an amiibo no matter how much you keep feeding it. However, you can change their balance of attack, defense, and speed.

Pic of the day. Tomorrow, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be released in Japan! The players in Japan had to wait a bit longer for their release, but then again, they did get the 3DS version first. We were glad to be able to release this game in the Americas just in time for Thanksgiving in the United States. Announces the release of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U in Japan. Also announces that the Pic of the Day series has been discontinued, and acknowledges Mewtwo for the first time in a POTD post.

Pic of the day has continued since E3 2013, and I would like to bring this series to a close today.

A total of 384 posts and roughly 500 screenshots have been posted, and there's even more screenshots if you count the ones I've posted for different regions.

The origins of pic of the day was sharing one picture a day of the game in development inside the company. It started out just as a small bonus for the staff.

However, once we started sharing pictures with the public, it was a much tougher process. We had to be more careful to choose appropriate pictures to post while keeping a consistant schedule regardless of how busy we got, all while some people only wanted new information from my posts.

It's nice to finally be able to get one weight off of my shoulders. But, we promised to create Mewtwo as a playable character, so I can't relax too much yet. I hope you'll look forward to Mewtwo joining the battle!

Hi everyone, I hope you’re enjoying Super Smash Bros. for Wii U!

I have an announcement... Wait for it... We’re doing a photo event using the photo studio in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U! Woot woot!!

Our first theme is...Eat! Try to take a snapshot that matches the theme, then post it to this photo event community after you’ve carefully read through the guidelines and instructions on how to participate.

  • Be sure to post your snapshot as a new post, and not as a comment to my post! Doing so won’t count as you submitting your entry.

Out of the submissions, Mr. Sakurai and the development staff will choose our favorites and announce our top pics.

Even if you don’t have Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, give a Yeah to the screenshots that make your mouth water, and cheer everyone on!

Thanks, good luck, and I’ll be looking forward to seeing everyone’s submissions!

(Here’s my shot at it. Take it away, Chrom!)

“Cook this too!”

A new competition is open. This is also the first post by a user named SmashGuide.

Hey, Sakurai here. Long time no see.

I'm happy to announce that Lucas will be available beginning 08:00 AM on June 14 (PT), 17:00 (CEST) on June 14th, and 01:00 AM on June 15 (AEST).

The Splatoon Mii Fighter gear and the Miiverse stage for the Wii U version are included in this update as well. It'll be here soon!

Lucas is already finished, and I've been playing with him daily. It's really satisfying when his up smash and Meteor Smash attacks connect.

Hi everyone! Time for another Super Smash Bros. announcement!

As you've probably noticed, there's been a new update for both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS versions of the game! Now that you can post your replays online and take part in tourneys in the Wii U version, we've opened two brand new Miiverse communities: the Replay Viewing Community and the Tourney Community. Take a look at some of your fellow fighters' best replays, or find some hot new tourneys to take part in yourself!

And now, it's time for the fifth Wii U Photo Challenge! Unfortunately, this is the very last one...so now's the time to take part!

The theme this time is...""Unity"". Remember, the team that smashes together, wins together!... Or something like that. Take a snapshot of some winning teamwork, and then post it to this photo event community after you’ve carefully read through the guidelines and instructions on how to participate.

  • Be sure to post your snapshot as a new post, and not as a comment to my post! Doing so won’t count as you submitting your entry.
  • Snapshots taken outside the Trophy Hoard's photo studio mode (like in Smash mode) and painted snaphsots will not count as valid entries.

Out of the submissions, Mr. Sakurai and the development staff will choose our favorites and announce our top picks.

Even if you don’t have Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, give a Yeah to the snapshots that you like, and cheer everyone on!

Thanks, good luck, and I’ll be looking forward to seeing everyone’s submissions!

(Here's my attempt. Jingle's putting a lot of faith in his new little helpers...)

""I'll just take this... ...and put it under the tree!""

The fifth and final Miiverse competition is announced.
