About the Scrub Rush page

To be honest, I don't know exactly what to call the article, because there are multiple different names for it. and for each different variation there is people who do and do not know what speak of, such as yourself. The only reason I decided on "Scrub Rush" was because SSBM Tutorials called it that, so I settled on that. To see exactly what I am talking about, please visit the link below

I hope this can clear any confusion. Thank you!

Two things

PM did not happen at BAM7, but it was at a tournament leading up to it called Project Melbourne. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SloEYXHEle0

In any case, I was wondering how we should handle the Project M side event at Super Smash Con 2017. I see two ways of handling it:

1.We do the same thing as SSC 2016 and keep it on the page as a "side event".

2.We give it its own page.

I list the second one because of the fact that people are not allowed to talk about it ( https://www.reddit.com/r/SSBPM/comments/6sgopq/goode_with_the_goods_at_super_smash_con_for_pm/ ), but I leave the first option open because of what we did for the first 2 SSCs. In any case, the event in of itself is probably significant enough to warrant its own page if needed, given that Gallo, Switch, HyperFlame, BP, and more will be attending and it will most likely break 100 entrants. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Diamond444 (talkcontribs) 22:31, 11 August 2017‎ (EST)

Hmm...well first off, please remember to sign your comments. Second, considering the one at SSC 2016 is still on the page despite having 134 entrants, I'd say keep it listed as a side event, but maybe have a note somewhere on the article explaining the circumstances behind the PM tournament. If there's ever a problem, we can easily split it into its own article later. Disaster Flare   (talk) 18:40, 11 August 2017 (EDT)
My apologies. It has been a while since I last used a userspace. Anyways, thank you. Diamond444 (talk) 18:47, 11 August 2017 (EDT)

Old results on dead sites

I saw your edit summary here; have you tried using the Web Archive to check if there's a version of the page you were trying to reference? Miles (talk) 16:46, 14 August 2017 (EDT)

I haven't yet, but I have had it in mind. I intend to go back and revisit it later tonight, since I have things going on today. Disaster Flare   (talk) 16:48, 14 August 2017 (EDT)

Mario edit

Can we call him mostly-silent, then? Skuchi037 (talk) 17:37, 15 August 2017 (EDT)

That would work better, but in the future, I'd advise against changing words just because they bother you, unless it would improve the quality of the sentence overall. Sometimes we have things phrased a certain way for a reason. Disaster Flare   (talk) 17:42, 15 August 2017 (EDT)

Vandals beware!

Am I the only one that thinks that vandalism on any page looks ugly and disgusting? I think I'm not, but who knows? Skuchi037 (talk) 20:00, 15 August 2017 (EDT)

Hi there, please read through SW:TALK, as this could count as misuse of a talk page. Alex Parpotta the flying lobster! 20:06, 15 August 2017 (EDT)

Idle Chatter

Hello, how are you doing? Just wanted to see if there's anything I can do today for the wiki, so that's why I asked. Skuchi037 (talk) 15:51, 4 September 2017 (EDT)

I'm doing fine, thank you. :P If there's anything you'd like to do, There's a "Things to do" area of the recent changes page that you can go through and see if there's anything you can help with. If not, you can also go through articles on the recent changes and see if anything needs improving. Disaster Flare   (talk) 15:57, 4 September 2017 (EDT)

Oh, I got one question. I don't know if this is on the blocking policy or not, but how do you, if at all, discuss a ban with the administrator who blocked you? I think this would be useful if you think your ban was unfair or wrong. Skuchi037 (talk) 16:45, 4 September 2017 (EDT)

In the case of MarioWiki, I can't exactly help you with that, since their policies are very different from ours. IIRC, they have a Discord server you could join if you have a Discord account, but beyond that, I can't help you. In the case of SmashWiki, if they leave your talk page privileges unlocked, you can message on there, or you can get on SmashWiki's Discord server or IRC. However, Discord would be your best bet, as the IRC has since been deemed obsolete. Disaster Flare   (talk) 16:49, 4 September 2017 (EDT)

All right, thanks for the help. Skuchi037 (talk) 16:54, 4 September 2017 (EDT)

about Smasher:supa

supa (lowercase) didn't attend Little Big House 2 nor plays smash for Wii U. There is another Supa in michigan but they are two completely different people. That is why I removed the tournament results. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dragnalus (talkcontribs) 23:26, 4 September 2017‎ (EST)

For one thing, please remember to sign your comments (you can see how at the top of edit boxes on talk pages). Second, do you have any further proof that they're different people? I mainly ask this because the original person who created the article does seem to have a respectable reputation for Smash 64 articles, so I'm trying to see whether or not the inclusion of that result was an honest mistake, and because it's a little easy to claim something like that without something to back it up. Disaster Flare   (talk) 19:30, 4 September 2017 (EDT)
To clarify, I am willing to believe you, but if you have any extra evidence, that'd be of great help in case anyone were to try to make later claims in the future. Disaster Flare   (talk) 19:34, 4 September 2017 (EDT)

supa has a twitter account and facial picture that is completely different from Supa who attends Wii U. I believe their ethnicity are different as well. Twitter: https://twitter.com/supassb Facial: [1] Dragnalus (talk) 19:38, 4 September 2017 (EDT)Dragnalus

Hmm..alright, go ahead and remove it, then. However, just so there's no trouble in the future, it might be a good idea to mention why you're removing it in the edit summary, so that way nobody in the future thinks you're removing it for malicious reasons or something. Disaster Flare   (talk) 19:40, 4 September 2017 (EDT)

WHAT?

You delete my topic? Why? HOW I CAN PUT IT? Because of the rule? Music Video 123 (talk) 06:01, 23 September 2017 (EDT)

I'm not the person you're contacting on this page, but Flare deleted it for the following reason: "Information unrelated to the wiki, and merely vaguely related to Smash as a whole." If that doesn't answer your question, then I'm not sure what to tell you. As a side note, your signature is in violation of our regulations, so it'd be wise for you to fix it. Aidan, the Rurouni 12:55, 23 September 2017 (EDT)
To further clarify, SmashWiki is not a social networking site, so forums aren't really used unless it's relating to SmashWiki and the content presented within it. If you're looking to socialize with people, I would recommend joining our Discord server. Disaster Flare   (talk) 13:47, 23 September 2017 (EDT)
But this: http://musicvideo123.deviantart.com/journal/ Music Video 123 (talk) 08:41, 5 October 2017 (EDT)
I'll reiterate: it's unrelated to the wiki (we don't exactly cover fanmade Smash-related things, only the real stuff), and merely vaguely related to Smash as a whole (a quick look through that link you so graciously provided doesn't exactly show that it has anything to with Smash barring the name).
And, again your signature violates our regulations. Please fix it. Aidan, the Rurouni 10:57, 5 October 2017 (EDT)
What about this?  Music Video 123 (talk) 05:46, 26 October 2017 (EDT)
"While the existence of things such as fan fiction, machinima, and fan games should not be ignored, and the concepts alone may deserve pages, articles on specific creations do not have a place here."
Meaning I not put into forums? and what "a quick look through that link you so graciously provided doesn't exactly show that it has anything to with Smash barring the name"? But in my DeviantART.
Listen let me break down exactly what you just said slowly. "While the existence of things such as fan fiction, machinima, and fan games should not be ignored" meaning yes there is such a community for people to create things such as parodies for example. "And the concepts alone may deserve pages" such as in the case of Project M becoming a very recognized stand alone game to the point where Nintendo had to step in. "Articles on specific creations do not have a place here" in the case of your DeviantART being extremely tailored to your user interest and not enough to provide for the community as a whole. I have provided several articles edits in the past as well involving documentaries, glitches, parodies, trivias, links, sources and more to wiki page only to have it removed. Admin means well when he's deleting excess content. It's okay to be upset but if you want to help, see what the community needs help with first. Lv20ninja   (talk) 10:00, 26 October 2017 (EDT)

Edit this page

This time around, I actually have the links to tournament placings, etc. But I don't know where to submit them. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by B3mccowan1 (talkcontribs) 01:40, 9 October 2017‎ (EST)

If you wanna remake the article again with all the stuff we need for it to be passable, this policy is your best friend. Disaster Flare   (talk) 21:43, 8 October 2017 (EDT)

Is that better? —Preceding unsigned comment added by B3mccowan1 (talkcontribs) 02:41, 9 October 2017 (EST)

Please remember to sign your comments (You can see how above the edit box on talk pages). Hmm...still could use some work, but it doesn't have to be deleted again, at least. I'd recommend linking the tournament names to the brackets as a form of proof of your results, and I'll look over everything else later. Disaster Flare   (talk) 22:44, 8 October 2017 (EDT)

I don't know how to link them...B3mccowan1 (talk) 22:46, 8 October 2017 (EDT)B3mccowan1

It's pretty simple, actually. It's done like this:
[www.ssbwiki.com Name of the tournament]
All you need to do is just replace the URL with the one for the tournament and you're all set. :P Disaster Flare   (talk) 22:53, 8 October 2017 (EDT)

Hungrybox's page

Honestly, this shouldn't warrant a whole new talk subject, but Hungrybox's page has two iterations explaining the nickname "clutchbox". Which one should be kept? lasagna B) (talk) 14:08, 9 October 2017 (EDT)

Taken care of. Kept the playstyle one, killed the trivia one. Serpent   King 18:00, 9 October 2017 (EDT)
As a general rule of thumb, if a trivia point is or can be covered in the main article, then it should be put in the main article and removed from trivia. It’s as simple as that. Good question. Black Vulpine of the Furry Nation. Furries make the Internets go! :3 19:07, 9 October 2017 (EDT)

another question regarding unofficial and fan-made terms: should the pages for community-named moves and plays like Marthritis and scarjump or Mangle be added, or are they just arbitrary trivia? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lasagna (talkcontribs) 23:18, 9 October 2017‎ (EST)

We generally don't cover unofficial and fanmade terms unless they're widely known and popular, such as the Scar Jump. Anything lesser than that but still worth noting should just be trivia on the appropriate articles. Disaster Flare   (talk) 19:09, 10 October 2017 (EDT)
You mean inappropriate information? Music Video 123 (talk) 08:44, 14 October 2017 (EDT)

Hello

Hello, how ya doing, boss? It's been a week since I've last worked on here. How's everything going? Skuchi037 (talk) 21:59, 10 October 2017 (EDT)

Fine, thanks. :P Disaster Flare   (talk) 22:23, 10 October 2017 (EDT)

Technique addition

Hey Flare, you think we should add information to the character pages in SSBM, SSBB, and SSB4 about their techniques like in Smash 64? Falco's Brawl page is the only one with them in there and I feel like we should add info to other character pages. Iron Gladiator (talk) 23:20, 17 October 2017 (EDT)

I'm honestly not the best person to ask about that, because I literally only just noticed that for the first time just now. If you have an account, I'd suggest joining our Discord server and bringing it up there, since I wouldn't know anybody who'd be able to instantly help you off the top of my head in this case. Disaster Flare   (talk) 23:33, 17 October 2017 (EDT)

Cool. Iron Gladiator (talk) 18:40, 18 October 2017 (EDT)

Translating to other languages?

Hey! I'm a translator (primarily focused on english/portuguese) who loves smash and understands the game pretty well, insofar as I play all of them competitively and am real life friends with a bunch of top players from 64, melee and smash4. I haven't translated any pages yet, but I was thinking of doing some smash stuff first, however, I can't figure out how to translate pages from the ssbwiki. Is there even a way to do this, or can I not translate these pages? —Preceding unsigned comment added by DanielCavazotte (talkcontribs) 22:33, 3 November 2017 (EST)

Assuming you mean multi-language articles like certain other wikis have, as far as I'm aware, we do not host alternate language versions of the wiki. There might be some alternate language Smash wikis out there, but I can't say whether they're official or not. I'm asking one of the bureaucrats of the wiki now (who's been staff for over a decade now) to see if he can be of better help than I can. Disaster Flare   (talk) 18:44, 3 November 2017 (EDT)

Thank you for the quick reply! in fact, I do mean multi-language articles. I think it would be really cool to start a pt ssb wiki, but I have no idea how to go about doing something like that! If you get word of any plans to start any multi-language ssbwikis, please contact me! I plan on doing as much work as I can for at least a year or two until I finish college. Before then, I'm going to be putting in around 1 hour of work per day towards translating wiki articles. (DanielCavazotte (talk) 19:08, 3 November 2017 (EDT))
