Tournament:2GGC: Greninja Saga: Difference between revisions

The event will be dedicated to {{SSB4|Greninja}}, and will feature several of the world's top Greninja players, including {{sm|Some}}, {{sm|iStudying}}, {{sm|Venia}}, and {{sm|Oisiitofu}}, as well as other top players, such as {{sm|ZeRo}}, {{sm|Ally}}, {{sm|Nairo}}, {{sm|VoiD}}, {{sm|Larry Lurr}}, {{sm|komorikiri}}, and {{sm|Ranai}}. The tournament's theme was decided during [[2GGC: Civil War]], in a round robin in which fans first nominated players, then voted for the character they would use; {{sm|Ranai}}'s Greninja won every set he played, thus confirming 2GGC: Greninja Saga.

Originally, the event was scheduled for April 22, representing the series's "April Saga." However, issues arose when the short notice of the announcement (the theme was decided less than a month before the original tournament date) caused several top Greninja players to be unable to attend, among them Some due to work<ref>https://twitter.com/somesh125/status/847286011910430722</ref>, and iStudying due to scheduling conflicts with an Italian tournament he was set to be featured in<ref>https://twitter.com/SmashBrosItalia/status/849343624030679041</ref>. Due to these conflicts, the tournament was delayed to May 20th, instead taking the place of the intended May Saga<ref>https://twitter.com/2GGaming/status/849684436883058690</ref>. As a result, April Saga was entirely canceled, and a new Saga will be announced for later in the year to take its place.
