The purpose of a wiki is to record notable moments and history of a subject, it seems odd to me that we're ignoring a character used in Grand Finals of one of the largest Melee tournaments so far. From the perspective of someone that will read this wiki years from now, when they see Armada's 2nd place finish and only Peach listed, they'll think he lost to Hungry Box using her, while the actual Grand Finals footage will be confusing, since he only uses Fox on that set. | |||
I honestly think this rule needs to change, since it goes against the purpose of recording part of the competitive scene memory.[[User:PFFP|PFFP]] ([[User talk:PFFP|talk]]) 11:48, 20 July 2016 (EDT) |

Insufficient notability involving the ssb64 page
This is my first time I've used the "talk function" so I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly.
Concerning this "insufficient notability". The pages i put out as glitches such as "PK thunder freeze glitch", "Roll Glitch", and "SleepSliding glitch" have all been marked "Considered for deletion in accordance with the deletion policy." You say the "glitch has no real impact on the competitive scene, and only 100,000+ views".
1) The sleepsliding glitch has no real impact on the scene, but hey what if someone tried the glitch out as a ledge-guard? Maybe for doubles it could be a useful way for team 1 to get pikachu from one side to the other for a ledge-guard with jigglypuff if team 2 were off-stage. Or maybe Jigglypuff use sleep as an aerial defense against pikachu as it tries to quick attack onto the stage? We could hopefully see someone expand this concept. The other thing is that I have noticed you took out some old glitches such as "blackhole glitch" cause it was very similar to the "green-shell glitch" but then again, the green-shell glitch isnt used in the competitive scene so why bother using that? 2) I'm not gonna lie but in a small community like smash 64 that's kind of a lot views granted how old this game is.
I've seen the sleepsliding glitch on other places already: http://es.smashbros.wikia.com/wiki/Archivo:SSB64_Sleeping_Pikachu_Glitch_(SleepSliding) Axe from Melee exploiting the glitch in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGTWI2f6AIE#t=418 melee, so maybe others can also as well.
3) I feel by inhibiting these sort of information there maybe be no opportunity for players to expand upon or experiment. I also feel that if there is a glitch it would be a neat trick for casual players to share and show each other and help expand the community. Anyways I didn't want to come off as rude but I'm still quite new to the wiki creation scene and am only trying to help.

- Aight, I'm gonna have to answer this in sections to bear with me a moment.
- 1) To answer your first question, the competitive thing wasn't the primary factor in my determining on whether or not it was notable (Black Hole glitch isn't usable in competitive play and it's still notable). It's noteworthy to mention, but it's not a key factor. The primary problem was the lack of attention to the glitch. As I said, the video only had 100,000+ views, which is impressive in of itself, but is also not as much as one would hope for. The biggest issue in terms of attention came from SmashBoards, which, as I said, only had two threads dedicated to talking about it (and there were barely any posts on both and none from anyone particularly notable) and no mention anywhere else.
- 2) Good point on most of what you said. The main thing I wanna point out is that wikia Smash sites aren't the most reliable places for determining notability (as just about anything is notable on wikia).
- 3) That last one isn't exactly our concern. If we were to follow under what you say, not only would this wiki be bloated with unnecessary content that barely anybody has heard of or cares about (such as smashers or even minor graphical glitches) and the wiki would be more of a strategy guide than anything, something that SW:NOT specifically says we are not. I know, it's not exactly the fairest in the world, but in all honesty it's worked.
- Hope all of this helps. Disaster Flare (talk) 15:59, 17 July 2016 (EDT)
- I've reviewed NA SSB64 Community and they seemed to be for this. If notoriety or notable is something you want as a factor, I'm willing to do a survey on the smashboard and on different FB ssb64 groups just to convince you that they want it. I'd rather you discuss this with David Shears cause this has with wiki entries (http://www.ssbwiki.com/Smasher:Shears) because of lack of data or evidence. For now I'll be through with any more entries involving glitches, techniques, or errors and such because I don't what will constitute as something even content-worthy.

- Well it's likely that with Miles pushing for a list of more minor glitches, this glitch will show up there (I'm not doubting the glitch is entirely unnotable), which I think it'll be perfect for there if you want my opinion. Personally I think a glitch should only have its own article if it has extreme notoriety for one reason or another, such as Black Hole and the Master Hand glitches, for instance. Page Creation
I was trying to upload an image to this wiki and couldn't do it, how can I do so?
