Zelda is currently ranked dead last on the J tier out of 56 characters, being even worse than her placing of 37th of 38 characters in Brawl. | Zelda is currently ranked dead last on the J tier out of 56 characters, being even worse than her placing of 37th of 38 characters in Brawl. Her positives include a long-distanced recovery in Farore's Wind that also happens to be her strongest KO move as well as a decent out of shield option, and a generally powerful attack in her Lightning Kicks. However, these pros are nullified by her numerous flaws: she is very light and slow in both her movement and attack speeds (possessing some of the worst frame-data in the game). Also, she is rather tall which makes her an easy target and also leaves her more vulnerable to combos despite being so floaty. Her recovery is also very slow, possesses a huge amount of endlag and is also very linear. She also possesses what is possibly the worst projectile in the entire game, Din's Fire. Din's Fire is very slow, leaves her vulnerable to attack while using it, deals rather low damage and doesn't kill opponents at realistic presents. Additionally, Din's Fire even leaves her in a helpless state after using it in the air making it even more of a 'high risk, low reward' attack. Zelda also has very poorly placed hitboxes (for example, the hitbox for her upair isn't even active immediately when the explosion is visible) as well as massive and highly ineffective sourspots on almost all of her attacks requiring her to be unnecessarily precise when attacking. Her hirable frame-data, slow speed and gigantic sourspots have resulted in her obsessing an extremely poor neutral as well as arguably the worst approach options in the game. She also has had absolutely none of her major issues from Brawl fixed, while her KOing ability has been nerfed overall due to the decreased knockback of her Lightning Kick attacks. Additionally, she can no longer Transform into Sheik, who is now an entirely separate character, to alleviate her weaknesses which is made even worse considering the massive amount of buffs Sheik received. This, in spite of her numerous buffs through game updates, Zelda has virtually no results or representation in competitive play. | ||
