He has been mentioned by the creator of Super Smash Bros., Massahiro [[Sakurai]], many times. It is unknown if he will appear as playable character or a boss in [[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]. There is strong evidence suggesting that he would be a playable character, as in the [[Masterpieces]] mode of the game, there is a save file for Super Metroid that is missing one Energy Tank, and you get that Energy tank after beating Ridley himself. This suggests that Sakurai wanted to show Ridley fighting in one of his past games. Also you fight Ridley in the first couple of minutes in Super Metroid, which would mean none other than a second boss fight with Ridley. It is also to note that Ridley is one of the most requested characters to appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and was second to [[Sonic the Hedgehog]], but since he got in it is a debate to whether Ridley or the character [[Geno]] from Super Mario RPG is more popular. However we will find out if this character is in on the 31st of January when Brawl comes out in Japan. There have been many wars on different Forums, such as Gamefaqs and NSider Forums as to whether he should be included as a boss or as a playable character.

Ridley is an antagonist from the Metroid series and Samus' main rival. Ridley has made several appearances in the Smash Bros series and is at least made a cameo in every installment.

In SSB Ridley could be spotted as a background character in the Planet Zebes stage.

In SSBM Ridley can be seen battling Samus in the opening cinema that mimics the opening battle of Super Metroid. Ridley also appears as a trophy.

Appearance in Brawl?

He has been mentioned by the creator of Super Smash Bros., Massahiro Sakurai, many times. It is unknown if he will appear as playable character or a boss in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. There is strong evidence suggesting that he would be a playable character, as in the Masterpieces mode of the game, there is a save file for Super Metroid that is missing one Energy Tank, and you get that Energy tank after beating Ridley himself. This suggests that Sakurai wanted to show Ridley fighting in one of his past games. Also you fight Ridley in the first couple of minutes in Super Metroid, which would mean none other than a second boss fight with Ridley.

Further evidence of Ridley's entry is the three Metroid themed stages in Brawl: Norfair, Frigate Orpheon, and the Brinstar stage from Melee. In their original games Ridley made an appearance in all of these areas. Finally the only Metroid music revealed thus far on the Dojo is the Ridley fight music.

It is also to note that Ridley is one of the most requested characters to appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and was second to Sonic the Hedgehog, but since he got in it is a debate to whether Ridley or the character Geno from Super Mario RPG is more popular. However we will find out if this character is in on the 31st of January when Brawl comes out in Japan. There have been many wars on different Forums, such as Gamefaqs and NSider Forums as to whether he should be included as a boss or as a playable character.
