:Yes, but we ''do'' need to list the Skylanders series of amiibo (Bowser and Donkey Kong). The special Skylanders Bowser/DK function with Smash, although the Smash Bowser/DK do not function with Skylanders. <small>---Preceding unsigned comment added by [[Special:MyPage|you]]. Bowser?

While a Bowser amiibo figurine hasn't been shown physically yet, gameplay in the trailer shows Bowser with the "FP" marker floating above him, which is indicative of an amiibo character. Here's a direct link- http://youtu.be/odUjMhc6YgU?t=2m22s

I think this might be worth mentioning somewhere. - Burb

Multiple Amiibo fights?

We know they will happen, but how? It at least appears that only one figurine can connect to the game pad at a time, and the 3ds extension can only hold one, so how will more than one fight, could you press it on, take it off, press another one on and take it off, then do the same after the fight to save? How will this work? 98.112.97.173 16:40, 24 June 2014 (EDT)

Compatability

Do you think we should do a chart for which Amiibos work with which games? Guybrush20X6 (talk) 08:48, 7 November 2014 (EST)

It's a tough call. It wouldn't be that difficult to do at this point given how few games are amiibo compatible, but it could get rather unwieldy in the future (especially for characters like Mario and Link). Miles (talk) 09:33, 7 November 2014 (EST)
amiibos by themselves aren't really a Smash Bros. property - yeah, all the ones we have so far are Smashers in their SSB4 artwork pose, but I expect in future to see ones for other characters. So I don't think it's in our scope to even list amiibos that don't work with a Smash Bros. game. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Obfuscating 13:11, 7 November 2014 (EST)

Wave 4

According to MarioWiki, certain characters (Mega Man, Sonic, and Shulk, as well as Dedede and Meta Knight outside of Japan) listed here as part of Wave 3 are actually Wave 4. Can someone check this? ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 21:56, 11 November 2014 (EST)

According to IGN, Shulk, Mega Man, and Sonic will be released in February 2015, whereas the rest will be released in January. I'm not exactly sure if it's "wave 4", because each wave contains about 10 amiibo figures and this only contains 3, but do what you want with that information. Rtzxy Reflect.jpg Reflect! 22:06, 11 November 2014 (EST)
I'd go by the Japanese order of release, with all 10 being released in January (Even though we're not a Japanese wiki we should use this order since they're not region locked). Laikue (talk | contribs) 22:11, 11 November 2014 (EST)
All amiibo release in February in America; the dates I'm describing above is for Japan, not America, so, according to IGN, not all amiibo will release in Japan in January. I may be wrong, though; I don't know how reliable IGN is, so… Rtzxy Reflect.jpg Reflect! 22:18, 11 November 2014 (EST)

Should there be more details of the boosts to damage and anything else that amiibos get at Lv. 50, like 1.5x to attack? It seems like it's an important aspect of training them. 70.48.100.134 22:37, 7 December 2014 (EST)

Notability of defects

While I think the dual-cannon Samus is notable, I don't really think any of the subsequent defects are, as they're really just running off the hype the Samus generated instead of their own. "Wave 4" is Wave 5

The Super Mario amiibo is technically Wave 4. Though it is the fourth wave of specifically SSB amiibo, but you may want to mention somewhere that it is the fifth wave overall if you go with that. Personally I think we should add the Super Mario amiibo list, sans Toad, since they work with SSB, and include somewhere in that section "the pack also includes a Toad amiibo, which does not function with Super Smash Bros.". Either way it'd be nice to have a reference to the true fourth wave somewhere. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 12:46, 14 January 2015 (EST)

I disagree, as they are the same amiibo, just with a different model on top. I don't think we need it. As for the difference between Waves 4 and 5, I don't know. Is there somewhere that said this? Laikue (talk | contribs) 13:33, 14 January 2015 (EST)
I wouldn't even put them on this page in the first place, because they're not Smash related. As for the wave number confusion, I...might actually consider the Smash ones wave 5, since they're said to be released in the spring, which is (presumably) after the Mario amiibo release date of 3/20/15 iirc. But that's just me. AidanzapunkSig.jpgBlueStreak Speeds By 14:56, 14 January 2015 (EST)

I think we first need to come to a conclusion as to what to do with non-Smash Bros. amiibo in general - do we list them, do we mention them, or do we ignore them? If we ignore them then we wouldn't count them in the wave numbers; otherwise we might depending on what exactly we do.

Personally, I think we should count them as "Smash Bros. waves 1-4" and "Super Mario wave 1". I also think we should ditch the subsections and make a table, though not until we decide whether we'll be mentioning the non-Smash Bros. ones. Toomai Glittershine ??? Doing Super Mario Wave 1 and Smash Wave 1-4 would work, that's what Mariowiki is doing now anyway. Imo it looks better and things should stay relatively consistent across NIWA. Laikue (talk | contribs) 15:26, 14 January 2015 (EST)
lol nothing is consistent across niwa All amiibo compatible with Smash Bros. should be mentioned here, whether they have a Smash Bros. pose or not, with Toad therefore being the only amiibo not required to be mentioned. It would be nice to have them mentioned somewhere, but if we switch over to a table that would be harder. I agree with Smash Bros. Wave 4 and Super Mario Wave 1. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 15:59, 14 January 2015 (EST)

Mewtwo amiibo

So...I woke up this morning (around this time is the normal time I wake up), and I was scrolling through Facebook...and I found this. If it fulfills the SW:NEWGAME requirements, would it be worth mentioning at all? AidanzapunkSignaturesmall.PNGAidan the Aura Master 06:46, 28 January 2015 (EST)

That falls into the "needs discussion" tier of SW:NEWGAME. I'm pretty skeptical given a) we don't know for sure that there will be a Mewtwo amiibo yet at all, and b) the screenshot's Mewtwo model looks very different from the artwork that seemingly was used as a base design. Is that screenshot a Project M one? Miles (talk) 07:37, 28 January 2015 (EST)

Google "Waluigi amiibo", it's not impossible to create a custom amiibo and package it. With that in mind, the screenshot is just from Project M so it's definitely bullshit (plus if it's in it's packaging that means they've already started producing them, which I doubt they have). 'cracks fingers' Short answer, no, it's too late to consider this. For one, the definition of rarity can be varied. For example, there were many Rosalina on launch day, with many stores getting 36 of her, some 48, yet she is still hard to get. A similar thing happened with Gold Mario, where there were a lot of him, yet he is now hard to get because so many people bought him up with the sole intention of trading him.

Another issue is that rarity doesn't translate to other regions or even states. Take, for example, Ike. Ike is rare in the US, yet borderline common in the UK. Lucario is uncommon in Germany, yet exceedingly rare in the US. Zelda and Kirby are rare in the UK, but both can be easily found in the US. Toon Link and Sheik were common in some states in the US, but rare in others.

Rarity also changes overtime, take Fox. Fox was very common in the first few months, but later on became rare. Sonic, Sheik, Toon Link, and Mega Man all started out very rare, with none of them able to be found at ANY store. However, in the following weeks many of them started popping up and they were considered common/uncommon now-a-days (with the exception of Mega Man, who is becoming rarer now). Too further my point, look at this.

And finally, restocks. The recent restocks are the reason I feel that a rarity section is no longer needed. Nintendo is trying now to make every amiibo easier to get. And so far, for at least Japan, they're restocking EVERY RARE AMIIBO (with the exception of Gold Mario). With US and Europe likely getting these soon (as well as already getting Ike, Marth, and Meta Knight), it completely alleviates the need for a rarity section. Not to mention the up-keep on such a section would be difficult to do.

tl;dr We don't need a rarity section, as rarity is subjective, frequently changing, inconsistent, a matter of opinion, and is being officially dealt with. Laikue (talk | contribs) 06:33, 9 May 2015 (EDT)

As I said, we've been using pre-existing colored heads to approximate variant amiibo for roughly six weeks. You've failed to provide a valid reason as to why your system would be better, and instead simply reverted repeatedly when your edit was undone. Your system is bad for future-proofing and sets us up to take way more effort to cover non-Smash amiibo than we have any real need to. Miles (talk) 21:01, 18 May 2015 (EDT)

your only "reason" was that you considered it ugly and "it's the way we've always done it". My "reason" was that it implied things that are not true. Which one sounds like something a professional Wiki would be more likely to use? It's also not really a matter of who's reason was best or whether or not it was needed- what gets me is that you feel like you're so powerful you can say whatever you want and not supply a reason until someone questions you. You told me my edits were ugly (well, poor, but still) and didn't supply a reason to why the white/yellow Marios were better, but thought that was good enough because you are an admin. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. We don't want to commit ourselves to having to provide fan edited images every time there's a variant amiibo. We can approximate reasonably well without doing so. I explained this. Miles (talk) 21:22, 18 May 2015 (EDT)

I can understand why people don't like the alt costume heads for the metallic Mario amiibos. The Awesome 21:05, 18 May 2015 (EDT)

I understand. Nintenzilla (talk) 21:14, 18 May 2015 (EDT)

OK, this exploded much farther than I expected. Bottom line, we need a better system. Using the Fire and Yellow Mario heads is problematic. To the uneducated reader, they wouldn't know they meant Gold and Silver Mario. Yellow isn't that big of a deal alone, but white in particular is problematic because Fire Mario has the potential to, and probably will eventually, get an amiibo. This also works into something Miles won't stop bringing up. Yes, the system has been in place for 6 weeks, but Silver Mario makes the system obsolete. This is something I have meant to say, but kept forgetting to.

Now, as for the ways we can end this whole debacle...

1. We could do Nutta's idea of having metallic versions of Mario. BUT he'd be expected to keep making these as new amiibo are announced. This could eventually be problematic, as he may just decide to quit on us.
2. We could just use the amiibo images themselves, as I did in my last edit. This would be the easiest solution and the best for maximum clarity, but as Miles had said, it's large and can potentially become too large.
3. We can do Toomai's unknown idea. It could be something we can agree on, but until it's revealed it doesn't hold any real weight.
4. We could do Toom's other idea of just putting a note saying something along the lines of "Silver and Gold editions of these amiibo are also compatible with Super Smash Bros. 4" I feel that this is one of the better options as it doesn't lock us into anything and would require one swift edit.
5. We use the previously mentioned head icons to show Silver and Gold Mario, but as previously stated, this adds an unnecessary level of confusion to the uninformed reader.
6. We just don't list Silver or Gold Mario. They're technically "Mario - Gold Edition" and "Mario - Silver Edition" so it might be enough to just list Mario. I don't personally like this one, but it is an option.
7. I have another idea, but I need confirmation on it before I'm gonna bother saying anything.

With all of this said, which do you guys think would work best? I'm leaning towards 4 until I hear Toomai's other idea/get confirmation on MY other idea. Laikue (talk | contribs) 22:19, 18 May 2015 (EDT)

I was operating under the assumption that the approximations with pre-existing costumes was sufficient since any confusion would be cleared up upon clicking the interwiki link to Mario Wiki's amiibo page. I figured the average reader was savvy enough to click through that link if they were interested in the variant Mario designs, the same way as with the Yarn Yoshis. Miles (talk) 22:40, 18 May 2015 (EDT)
Well, you have to prepare for the worst (a.k.a. people too stubborn/stupid to click said link). Additionally, the regular everyday user looking for quick info wouldn't click over to Mariowiki. As I said, it worked with the Yellow head, but the Fire Mario head would just cause too much confusion/have to be changed anyway if and when Fire Mario comes out on his own.
For now I think we should just implement #4 and call it a day, it clears up any problems we could have, and it ends most of the arguments that have been going on. Laikue (talk | contribs) 22:54, 18 May 2015 (EDT)
Also, just as a side note, make sure to un-protect the page before E3 at least. The editwarring should be fully dead by then and there's probably gonna be a lot of amiibo info to cover. Laikue (talk | contribs) 02:00, 20 May 2015 (EDT)

OK, seriously, the second a Fire Mario amiibo is announced, the system is gonna become null. Why not just leave the note? Honestly, we wouldn't have to keep up the page every time a new variant was announced, we wouldn't have to resort to using confusing head icons, and it literally takes no effort to read the note.

Seriously, can you give one fucking reason that the head icons work better? Just one reason, any reason at all. Laikue (talk | contribs) 14:30, 26 May 2015 (EDT)

More condensed. I'm trying to keep those tables as streamlined and free of text notes as possible. Miles (talk) 14:32, 26 May 2015 (EDT)
I see your point, but it's still going to become absolutely null in the future as more variants are announced and it's still confusing to the uninformed reader. Laikue (talk | contribs) 14:38, 26 May 2015 (EDT)
If you want something that is streamlined/free of text notes, we need Gold/Silver Mario heads. Not necessarily mine, but we need some. We use fan-made heads for unreleased characters (Lucas (SSB4)), why is this that much different? ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 16:42, 27 May 2015 (EDT)
...Nutta has a point. Aidanzapunksignature.pngAidan, Master of Speed and AuraAidanzapunkSignaturesmall.PNG 16:44, 27 May 2015 (EDT)
We're using a placeholder Lucas head icon because there will be an official one to replace it with. That's not the case here, and we can approximate these very closely without the hassle or the future-commitment of uploading special head icons only for this page. Miles (talk) 16:45, 27 May 2015 (EDT)
Fire Mario is not "very close" to Silver Mario, there's a large difference. Also, as far as I can see, you are the only one who still solely supports the current system, so we should probably go with one of the new ones- either fanmade heads, or a footnote. I lean towards footnote. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 16:50, 27 May 2015 (EDT)

On restocks

On a side note, restocks don't matter. Let me actually explain it though...

1. Restocks cannot be kept track of. For instance, Lucario recently got an unannounced, minor, obscure, confirmed restock. These are not easy to keep track of and pile up fast.
2. Every amiibo (except for MAYBE Gold and Silver Mario) has an announced restock, has had a restock, or WILL have a restock. Making the statement pointless.
3. Restocks are implied for every product, unless they're specified to be limited edition.

Now, discontinuations, if and when they come, would be notable enough to mention, but seeing how no amiibo has been officially discontinued by Nintendo, we need not worry about it right now. Laikue (talk | contribs) 22:33, 18 May 2015 (EDT)

But Marth, Ike, King Dedede, Meta Knight and Shulk I believe are all getting official restocks. Nintenzilla (talk) 07:43, 19 May 2015 (EDT)
Let me contradict myself, Shulk already got a restock but Marth, Ike, King Dedede, and Meta Knight are all getting an official restock, is that correct? Nintenzilla (talk) 07:51, 19 May 2015 (EDT)

I also remember rumors of Xenoblade Chronicles X would have Amiibo compatibility too. Now I'm confused, is there any reason Nintendo opted out for Amiibo on these games? Nintenzilla (talk) 09:07, 19 May 2015 (EDT)

I doubt Bayo 2 would have amiibo. I don't really see any reason why they'd be useful. And if it's a rumor you heard about XCX, it's automatically speculation. Aidanzapunksignature.pngAidan, Master of Speed and AuraAidanzapunkSignaturesmall.PNG 09:34, 19 May 2015 (EDT)
I guess they could give you more costumes and weapons? I dunno? Maybe it could work something like Hyrule Warriors? Nintenzilla (talk) 09:42, 19 May 2015 (EDT)
I have absolutely no idea what the Xenoblade Amiibo would do. Nintenzilla (talk) 09:58, 19 May 2015 (EDT)
Also another reason why the rumors started was because the director of Xenoblade Chronicles had some sort of interest in making a series of Amiibo based off the first game, so people were saying that they could factor into the new game in some sort of way. However, there have been a few cases where fake prototypes were on the site, so it's probably best to avoid making ourselves look like asses and just wait for the amiibo to be announced (after all, we're already technically confirmed to be getting every character as amiibo) Laikue (talk | contribs) 01:58, 20 May 2015 (EDT)

And how does this affect our coverage? It's not a new game compatible with the Smash Villager amiibo, nor is it a non-Smash amiibo compatible with Smash. Miles (talk) 21:54, 26 May 2015 (EDT)
But the Animal Crossing Amiibos aren't Smash Bros Amiibo. Nintenzilla (talk) 21:57, 26 May 2015 (EDT)
