Event 25: Gargantuans: Difference between revisions

*Gargantuans acts as a homage to old, campy B-movies of the mid 1900s, especially monster films; the inclusion of Donkey Kong is a reference to [[wikipedia:King_Kong|King Kong]], a well-known American movie monster, and Bowser acts as a reference to [[wikipedia:Godzilla|Godzilla]], a movie monster hailing from Japan. As a result of these two appearing on Fourside (which ''EarthBound'' designed to be a parody of large, sprawling Japanese and American metropolises, common areas for monster films), the entire Event Match is similar to the most well-known of the 1962 film-Kong vs. Godzilla. The inclusion of Tiny Mario and Tiny Peach emulates the frequent use of helpless civilians in such movies.
