I agree that when we're referring to this universe that we should label it as the ''Mother'' universe rather than the ''EarthBound'' universe. In Japan, all three games have "Mother" as the title: ''Mother'', ''Mother 2: Gyiyg Strikes Back'', and ''Mother 3''. So this means that ''Mother'' is the real name of the games (this is more apparent when Shigesato Itoi, creator of the series, said that the inspiration for the name came from John Lennon's song "Mother").
