Article on ARMS Institute Ninjara

Ninjara (ニンジャラ, Ninjara) is a character and playable fighter in the Nintendo Switch game ARMS.

Origin

Ninjara fighting against Min Min on the Ramen Bowl in ARMS.

One of the playable characters in ARMS, Ninjara, also known as "The Student of Stealth", hails from the Rasen Ninjutsu University, also known as Ninja College. As both his name and school would suggest, Ninjara is a ninja himself, with fast-paced, stealthy movement with a special vanishing technique, this technique allowing him to warp out of danger and into a new location to confuse his foes. Ninjara joined the ARMS Grand Prix for his senior project, and he enjoys reading books in his spare time.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

As a spirit

Ninjara has a Advanced Support spirit that is able to be summoned using the cores for Shinobu and Shadow Man. If the player has purchased Min Min, his spirit battle can be fought. Once used, the spirit grants the user faster movement speed.

As a background character

Ninjara appears in Min Min's reveal trailer, swiping the invitation from Ribbon Girl and dodging a volley of punches from the entire base ARMS roster before being knocked out of the air by Master Mummy. He is later seen lying in the front of all the knocked ARMS fighters, making a later cameo in Min Min's Final Smash: ARMS Rush.

As a color scheme

Min Min's fifth color scheme is based on Ninjara's efault color.

As a costume

A Ninjara DLC costume for Mii Brawler was revealed on June 22, 2020, as part of Round 6. Ninjara's Chakrams, his default ARMS, act as the costume's fists.

Trivia

  • Ninjara and Ribbon Girl are the first summon-exclusive spirits to gain spirit battles in a update.
  • Before the playable fighter from ARMS was decided, Masahiro Sakurai had considered both Ninjara and Min Min for the spot; Min Min won out at the request of ARMS producer, Kosuke Yabuki.
  • Ninjara is the fourth character to hold onto a Smash invitation in a character reveal trailer without becoming playable in the process, behind Pete, Sothis, and Spring Man.
