Article on Fire Emblem Wiki Avatar (Fates)

Corrin (カムイ, Kamui) is the main protagonist and player avatar of Fire Emblem Fates.

Origin

Corrin originates from Fire Emblem Fates, where he is the player avatar in a similar vein as Robin. However, unlike Robin, Corrin is also the main character of the game, with the plot revolving around his decision in siding either with his adoptive family, the violent kingdom of Nohr, or with his birth family, the peaceful kingdom of Hoshido. Corrin is notably half-dragon, and is able to transform parts of his body into that of a dragon, or use the power of dragonstones to temporarily transform into a dragon. These abilities are a large part of Corrin's moveset in Super Smash Bros. 4. His personal weapon is the transformative Yato blade, and he wields its final form, the Omega Yato, in Super Smash Bros. 4.

As a player avatar, Corrin's gender, appearance, and voice can be chosen by the player. While customization options for their outfit, face, hairstyle, height, and voice are not present in SSB4, players can choose to play as either the male or female variants, like with Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, and Robin.

Main article: Corrin (SSB4)

Corrin is a newcomer as a downloadable playable character in Super Smash Bros. 4 released on February 3rd, 2016, alongside Bayonetta. Instead of a new stage, like with the other DLC newcomers, two new music tracks for Coliseum and Castle Siege will be unlocked, when purchased on the Wii U version.

Trivia

  • Corrin is the most recently introduced playable character in the entire Super Smash Bros. series and the only character to have debuted after the release of SSB4, and the second character in the series to be added before the worldwide releases of his game (after fellow Fire Emblem representative Roy). However, Roy's game wasn't released anywhere at the time of his debut in Smash, while Corrin's had by then been released in Japan.
  • Corrin's male artwork in SSB4 is similar to his official art in Fates, albeit with his left hand in a different position and his sword being angled more downwards. The female artwork, however, is identical to her official art in Fates, though she now wears black pants covering her inner thighs.
  • Corrin and Robin are the only playable non-Lord Fire Emblem characters in the Super Smash Bros. series.
  • The opening scene to Corrin's reveal trailer is actually pulled directly from Fates, right down to the animation; however, the recorded lines are different.
    • The scene depicting Corrin's back is also from Fates; however, in Fates, he does not speak.
