Mario faces off with 30 fighting polygons

The Polygon Team (Dummy Combo, in Japan) in Super Smash Bros. was a team of purple polyhedrons modeled after every character in the game (even ones that haven't yet been unlocked). They battle the player in several battles before Master Hand's stage. They aren't aggressive, mainly walking around the platforms without actively seeking to defeat the player. They are also fairly weak, have no B-button attacks, and cannot grab. They can usually be defeated in a single blow - however, at higher difficulty levels, Polygons approach the weight and strength of normal opponents. They also appear in the third-to-last event in 1P mode (Race to the Finish), to try and delay the player.

  • Donkey Kong: Looks the closest to the actual character. This one is bigger then the rest and has a a masculine frame.
  • Capt. Falcon, Link, Fox, and Samus: Have humanoid shaped Polygons. The differences is that Samus has a spike for an arm that mimics the arm cannon, The Link polygon has a spike of it's own to mimic a sword, and the Fox Polygon has a tail.
  • Mario, Luigi, and Ness: Look a lot like elves. All of the are very hard to tell apart but the Ness Polygon looks like it is wearing shorts and the Luigi one is slightly taller than the Mario one. You have to look at their movesets to really tell for sure.
  • Yoshi: Looks similar to how a real Raptor would look like.
  • Kirby: Looks a bit like a snowman being made up of 3 different sized rocks with feet and stubby arms.
  • Jigglypuff: Looks like a big, round rock with a spike in the middle of it's forehead, mimicing the hair. This one is often mistook as Kirby at first for some players.
  • Pikachu: Looks how a rat or a real Pika would look like.

The Polygon Team is considered the predecessor of the Fighting Wire Frames and the Fighting Alloy Team.
