Sonic (ソニック, Sonic) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Dream. He was "announced" by Smash Master on January 25, 2016 and is expected to be completed by late February 2016. Sonic returns with a slightly improved moveset.

AttributesEdit

Sonic retains his fighting style from SSB4.

Changes from SSB4Edit

Sonic has been slightly buffed from SSB4.

AttributesEdit

  •   Sonic jumps slightly higher.
  •   Sonic walks faster (1.375 → 1.4).
  •   Sonic's air speed is slightly faster (1.15 → 1.18).
  •   Sonic's air acceleration is higher (0.04 → 0.055).
  •   Sonic's traction is higher (0.06 → 0.07).

  •   Up tilt deals more damage (8% → 12%).
  •   Forward smash comes out 3 frame faster (18 → 15) and has less ending lag.
  •   Up smash comes out 2 frames faster (19 → 17).

Aerial attacksEdit

  •   Forward aerial deals 3% more damage (7% → 10%) and has less ending lag.
  •   Back aerial comes out 3 frames faster (13 → 10).
  •   Down aerial now comes out on frame 14.

Throws/other attacksEdit

  •   Up throw deals twice the damage (6% → 12%).

  •   Back throw's knockback increased, K.O.ing at 142% from the center of Final Destination.

Special attacksEdit

MovesetEdit

To see Sonic's moveset for Super Smash Bros. Dream, go here and compare the changes using the section above.

On-screen appearanceEdit

  • Sonic enters the stage in ball form from the foreground and gives a thumbs-up.

TauntsEdit

  • Up taunt: Does a somersault, then crosses his arms with his index finger pointing out while making a teasing clicking sound, which forms into one of his signature poses.
  • Side taunt: Performs a figure-eight peelout dash, similar to the Super Peel Out technique from Sonic the Hedgehog CD, while saying "You're too slow!" (遅すぎだぜ!, You're too slow!).
  • Down taunt: Says "C'mon!" both in English and Japanese while performing the windmill, a breakdancing move.

Idle posesEdit

  • Turns towards the player, waving his finger in a patronizing manner while grinning. He did this on the title screen in a few of his games.
  • Looks at the camera for a moment while tapping his foot impatiently. This is a reference to his idle animation from the classic Sonic the Hedgehog games for the Sega Genesis.

Crowd cheerEdit

English Japanese
Cheer
Description So-nic! Go! Go! So-nic!
Pitch Crowd chant Crowd chant

Victory posesEdit

The origin of this theme is from Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), which itself is an orchestrated remix of the tune that plays when Sonic passed an Act in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
  • Collects the blue Chaos Emerald and poses with it while saying "Piece of cake!".
  • Sprints off-screen then sprints back on-screen before giving a thumbs-up and saying "That was almost too easy!".
  • Breakdances and then does a pose, saying "Let's do that again sometime!".
