Origin[edit]

A new remix of the two camp themes from Minecraft Dungeons. Like the original songs, the arrangement is led by a piano, but the tempo is much faster paced and it also incorporates electric guitar riffs, a modern drum kit and string sections. The piano and guitar were performed by Takayuki Yoshimura and Yuya Komoguchi respectively, with Tomotaka Saka serving as the recording and mixing engineer.[1][2] Halland and Dalarna are both names of provinces in Sweden.

When played on Minecraft World, the music syncs up with the stage's day-&-night cycle, as it will become more calm during sunset and nightime, before gradually picking up and returning to normal during sunrise and daytime, after which the song will loop back to the start. However, it will become desynchronized if the game is paused or the gameplay speed is altered.

Other uses[edit]

Trivia[edit]

  • Minecraft has the fewest number of music tracks out of all DLC universes in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with only seven, having one less than Dragon Quest's eight.
    • It is worth noting that Dragon Quest did not receive any new remixes, whereas six of the seven Minecraft songs are arrangements.
    • Additionally, due to Final Fantasy gaining nine new music tracks in addition to the two in the base game with Sephiroth, Minecraft has the fewest music tracks out of any third-party franchise.
  • Masahiro Sakurai described producing Minecraft music for Smash as difficult for him and his team, even calling it one of the toughest challenges in the history of the series, as music from the original game was unable to be used due to "various circumstances" including apparent licensing difficulties and their style being deemed too relaxing.[3] As a result, the songs are taken from two of the spin-offs — Minecraft Earth and Minecraft Dungeons — and the minigames from the Legacy Console editions of Minecraft. Sakurai also stated that additional tracks were planned, but scrapped partway through; however, he is satisfied with the overall atmosphere of the final choices.[4]
  • Despite Sakurai stating in the Mr. Sakurai Presents that there was a balance between Battle, Tumble, and Glide themes in the song selection, there are no songs from the Tumble minigame, and only one Glide song. It is possible that one or more of the scrapped arrangements were songs that played in Tumble or Glide.
  • The minigames from the Legacy Console editions are not available in the current versions of Minecraft, making their songs the first in Smash to not be present in the game of origin at the time of being added. Presumably, they were included due to the issues in securing songs from the original Minecraft soundtrack.
    • Relatedly, Minecraft Earth shut down on June 30th 2021 (8 months after the release of Challenger Pack 7), thus giving "Earth" a similar distinction.
  • "Earth" is the second song in Smash to originate from a mobile game, namely Minecraft Earth, after "Gear Up For…" from Fire Emblem Heroes.
  • Minecraft Dungeons is the first of two games released in the 2020s to be represented in Smash via music, with the second being Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory.
  • Minecraft is the first Western property in Smash where no arrangement was done by one of the original composers.
  • Minecraft and Kingdom Hearts are the only major series in Ultimate where all songs featured are named identically in both English and Japanese. All songs from Sonic The Hedgehog, Street Fighter, and Tekken are listed in English even in the Japanese version, but the exact names vary.
