Wobbuffet in SSBM
Wobbuffet (ソーナンス, Sōnansu, Sonans in Japanese language versions) is a fictional creature in the Pokémon media franchise.

The first appearance of ‘’’Wobbuffet’’’ in the Super Smash Bros. world is in Super Smash Bros. Melee, and he also returns in the same way in Super Smash Bros Brawl.  Once a character has grabbed a Pokéball he or she may throw it.  Once thrown it lands, it may expel a Pokémon from it. Occasionally, this Pokémon will be a Wobbuffet. Once out of its Pokéball it will stand still until a player touches it. Once it is in contact with a player it will start wobbling back and forth at a speed relative to how hard it was hit. Wobbuffet is the only Pokémon in SSBM that can hurt the player that threw the Pokéball.  Wobbuffet occasionally appears in the event match Legendary Pokémon, suggesting that he is legendary.  That is not true, so he can be considered a sort of "Goldeen" for the match, in terms of effectiveness. Wobbuffet also makes an appearance in the Kanto Skies: Poké Floats stage of Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Wobbuffet resembles a punching bag. It has four small legs that helps it stand. Wobbuffet's whole body is blue. Wobbuffet's arms are usually at its side but when summoned they make a salute gesture when it says its name. The eyes of Wobbuffet are cross-eyed and its mouth resembles a grimace. The most notable feature of Wobbuffet is its black tail on the back of its body. The black tail has two eyes on it but has nothing to do with Wobbuffet in the game.

As a Poké Ball Pokémon
Wobbuffet appears as a Pokeball Pokémon in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Wobbuffet uses Counter as its attack. Wobbuffet rocks back and forth when the player attacks it or hits it with an item. Any character that makes contact with Wobbuffet's Counter will take damage. If Wobbuffet hasn't been hit, contact with it will still cause very minor knockback, but will cause no damage. The power of Wobbuffet's Counter attack varies. If Wobbuffet is hit with a weak attack, it won't wobble a lot. If Wobbuffet is hit with a strong attack, Counter will then cause more damage. Wobbuffet will also wobble if it is hit by an item. Wobbuffet will wobble more intensly if hit with a powerful item. A character will take more damage if they are hit with a faster wobbling Wobbuffet. Also, characters can get trapped in a Wobbuffet's Counter if it is not too powerful. Wobbuffet's attack harms both opponents and the summoner.

Wobbuffet is Pokémon #202, and makes frequent appearances in the TV show, as a comical member of Team Rocket.  He evolves from Pokémon 360, Wynaut. Wobbuffet is a non-aggressive Pokémon that hates light and shock, so it lives in dark caves during the day and comes out only at night. The most sensitive part of Wobbuffet's body is its tail, which can provoke attacks.
In the Event Match Legendary Pokémon, Wobbuffet is the only common Pokémon that will come out of Poké Balls. Wobbuffet's appearance as a common Pokémon in this event match is to discourage other characters from expecting a powerful legendary Pokémon. However, Wobbuffet can be useful in this Event Match. If Wobbuffet is hit with a powerful attack from a legendary Pokémon then it will start to wobble intensly. Characters that have a high damage percentage have the possibility of dying. The Wire Frames will have a hard time to try and avoid Wobbuffet's Counter in this Event Match.

As a stage element
A giant balloon of Wobbuffet (in actuality the 3D model of Wobbuffet used in Pokémon Stadium 2 for Nintendo 64) is one of the many floating and bending "platforms" that comprise the Poké Floats stage. It appears from the side horizontally and jerkily.
As a trophy
Wobbuffet features as a collectible trophy, unlocked as one of the 100+ trophies that can be collected randomly during normal play, such as in the Trophy Lottery and throughout the various Single-player Regular Matches. It reads as follows:
A Patient Pokémon, Wobbuffet lives in darkness to hide its mismatched black tail. Even for a stoic Pokémon, this creature is a testament to self-control; it will not actively attack an opponent. Its Counter and Mirror Coat moves are solely used for reflecting attacks directly back at its antagonist. (Pokemon Gold & Silver 10/00)
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Wobbuffet returns with the same method of batting strategy, but uses Mirror Coat.
