::Beta isn't and has never been a catchall term, it refers to a specific point in game development before shipping. Prerelease, early, and unused are catchalls. Claiming beta is a catchall for content seen in prerelease screenshots/unused in the game's code is like claiming dubstep is a catchall for all genres of electronica. --Murabito (talk) 13:16, 17 September 2014 (EDT)

:But it is a catchall term, and simple denial will not change that. If you have nothing better to do than bicker over something that you alone care about, perhaps you should consider refraining from editing for a while. If nothing else, I would have hoped the IP block you received would have been a clear warning for you to stop.--Anothrgamer1234 (talk) 15:27, 17 September 2014 (EDT)

Marth
Marth was planned.
But not a beta element. Smashedpotatoes (Talk) 20:43, 14 December 2015 (EST)
:Beta element = element that was only present in the beta. While there's evidence that Marth was not planned, even if he was he was not in the beta. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by SANTY CLAWS! ::We need to seriously reconsider this nomenclature; it's been pretty thoroughly obsolete for a while. "Beta" isn't a good catch-all for "unused data in the game code" or "stuff we know was considered during development". :::Yeah, it's a pretty specific term for pretty unspecific pages.
:::We could go with Unused elements. That's a nice catchall. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by SANTY CLAWS! Or maybe DatNuttyKid. 21:02, 14 December 2015 (EST)
::::Nah, I think we should differentiate the two. Serpent King 21:04, 14 December 2015 (EST)
:::::Maybe rename the pages to Unused elements (SSBX) and have a section for Planned elements and Unused elements in game code or similar. Serpent King 21:06, 14 December 2015 (EST)
::::::I'd say the terminology is rather easy. Unused is a catchall for anything that was not in the game but was considered/planned/etc. Planned would be something similar to Alph or Chrom, where Sakurai decided on them, had everything laid out for them, but never got around to it. Considered would be something closer to Pac-Man in Brawl, where Sakurai thought about it but almost immediately scrapped it. Then there could be removed or cut, which would be Mewtwo or Roy in Brawl, who were coded and ready to go but scrapped at the last second. (Scrapped could work for that too) ---Preceding unsigned comment added by SANTY CLAWS!
