:::::Everyone has their own idea of what characters "should" be in Smash, and that adds up to more characters than the developers can reasonably include. (Although for my part, I do think the continued lack of Wolf is odd - he's the only missing veteran with no reason not to come back.) As for new modes, I don't recall hearing anything about that. Just a rumour, probably.
