| The current range blocks are /20, which blocks a total of 4096 IPs (2 to the power of [32 minus the number]). This is generally the point at which I personally say "this is good enough"; every increase of the range number by 1 doubles the amount of blocked IPs. The default MediaWiki limit is /16 (65,536 IPs), which basically means "the first two numbers of the IP address are the same, who cares about the second two". I would normally point you to [https://tools.wmflabs.org/blockcalc/ the rangeblock tool] and ask "what would your new range be?", but it seems to be down at the moment. Welp
I guess it was convenient that there happened to be an unused icon for Active RfBs, but I meant for you to move Active RfAs to Active Requests for Rights, because it is awkward to have an RfB in an RfA category. HOWEVER, there is too little reward in making RfBs an individual catgeory considering how rarely they appear. Ganonmew, The Thankful Evil Clone 14:05, 7 November 2015 (EST)
- That is the general Bcrat icon, used in a userbox template that I know of, my CSS, etc. INoMed (Talk • Contribs) 14:08, 7 November 2015 (EST)
- It could have gone either way really. Since categories can't be moved, I went with the easier option. Toomai Glittershine The Quiet 09:47, 8 November 2015 (EST)
- 1. Exactly. 2. Just checked, I didn't see a move button next to the "watch this" button when on a category page. INoMed (Talk • Contribs) 09:51, 8 November 2015 (EST)
Range block
Our recurring vandal seems to have weaseled around your range block again. Is it worth making it even broader? Miles (talk) 02:16, 11 November 2015 (EST)
- To Miles: since you're an admin, can't you do a range block or can only bureaucrats do it? - Drilly the Hedgehog 02:18, 11 November 2015 (EST)
- If he could, he would've done it by now. Disaster Flare (talk) 02:19, 11 November 2015 (EST)
- Poor 15DollarsWentSouth. - Drilly the Hedgehog 02:20, 11 November 2015 (EST)
- Indeed. Disaster Flare (talk) 02:21, 11 November 2015 (EST)
- Seriously, though, can't oppenheimer do it? - Drilly the Hedgehog 02:23, 11 November 2015 (EST)
I can. However, I wanted to a) check with the person who had made that block, and b) check that it was desirable. The complication is that we'd essentially have to widen the net of IPs that are blocked, which increases the chances of blocking legitimate users beyond the vandal. That's why I haven't just leaped in to do it myself. Miles (talk) 02:31, 11 November 2015 (EST)
- Yes, I must admit the number of range blocks we've made recently disturbs me. There could be hundreds of IPs blocked, preventing legit users from doing anything, and correct me if I am wrong, but talk page privs have been revoked too, right? Serpent King 03:49, 11 November 2015 (EST)

XL
Will eXemplary Logic be able to semi-automate the process of changing copyright tags? I'm just curious. INoMed (Talk • Contribs) 12:12, 11 November 2015 (EST)
- Is this partly because I do the mass editing that clutters up RC? Yeah, but this is the only time I can do it between classes (yes, I have school today). Bot edits would be good, a sure fire way to prevent slip ups, for the start at least, is that all trophies and head icons are always screenshots, because file rips fall under the "vanilla or hacked" statement. Do it one step at a time, so everyone knows what is left. DekZek 12:17, 11 November 2015 (EST)
- Partly because your edits are cluttering the RC, partly because I feel as if the job could do with XL. INoMed (Talk • Contribs) 12:19, 11 November 2015 (EST)
I can answer the question with a question: Is it a given that all of tag Q should turn into tag K? Can we assume that ~95% of the old fair use tag should be converted into the new screenshot tag? Because XL does either all or nothing, no questions asked; if it's not mostly a complete conversion, it'll make more of a mess than it solves. Toomai Glittershine The Brass 12:30, 11 November 2015 (EST)
- So it is not really possible to do so without a mess afterwards. Thanks! (I was just curious anyway.) INoMed (Talk • Contribs) 12:33, 11 November 2015 (EST)
- Can XL do all images in a category, or is it straight up text-replacement in a way that doesn't make that practical? If it could operate that way, it could at least make a dent by letting us speed through stuff like these categories. Miles (talk) 12:37, 11 November 2015 (EST)
- Yes, that should be possible. I'll have a go at it. Toomai Glittershine The Incomprehensible 12:53, 11 November 2015 (EST)
- Don't forget to reconfigure XL after the current task is done... (Only if you really need to make XL convert more tags) INoMed (Talk • Contribs) 14:57, 11 November 2015 (EST)
- ...Unless you already configured XL to convert more images after the current conversion is done. INoMed (Talk • Contribs) 15:00, 11 November 2015 (EST)
Heads up: XL's done. INoMed (Talk • Contribs) 15:42, 11 November 2015 (EST)
- Yes I am aware when XL finishes something; I can't keep him running all the time, and if my computer's doing a lot of other stuff (e.g. running a backup) I'm not adding yet another process to the mix. Toomai Glittershine The Steppin' 16:27, 11 November 2015 (EST)

Not anything relevant or anything but if you would like to, mind that I at least know? Dots (talk) The Mewtwo 15:48, 11 November 2015 (EST)

- Would that be a no? Like what if I want to talk about something between you and me? (and not bothering using IRC) Dots (talk) The Ball 18:25, 11 November 2015 (EST)
- ...uhhh i'm not sure what either of you are saying and i think that's the problem here.
