Fox McCloud has appeared in every Super Smash Bros. game to date. He wears his Star Fox 64 outfit in the series.  His "Fire Fox" special move is a fire attack which he can use to gain (or lose, if need be) altitude (usually to recover from off of the edge); which he hovers in the air and charges it up. It can be directed using the analog stick on the controller. His "Reflector" (also known as the "Shine," or "Deflector") is a blue hexagonal structure that returns enemy projectile attacks and damages opponents. Super Smash Bros. Melee, the second game of the series, makes him lighter (although also making him fall more quickly), and adds a "Fox Illusion" dash attack. His blaster was sped up but also no longer stunned enemies. His "Fire Fox" attack was also changed somewhat graphically. In Melee, fellow Star Fox character Falco Lombardi can be unlocked as well. He plays rather similar to how Fox played in Super Smash Bros.
Character description
Fox made his appearance in Star Fox for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993. The leader of the Star Fox team, Fox led his team through the Lylat System to save the galaxy from the evil Andross. The game was a huge hit and has led to several sequels.

He was confirmed on November 3, 2006 at the Nintendo World Tour to be in the upcoming part of the series, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Fox's outfit in Brawl is similar to, though not completely the same as, his 64 and Command designs. Additions include a holster for his gun, a green lens over his right eye, and a small device on his belt which is the Reflector that generates a hexagonal shield.
Though the sequel to Star Fox was cancelled, (when the game was nearly finished) Fox would return in the Nintendo 64 smash hit Star Fox 64 which revealed some key details about Fox's past in this 'updated' Star Fox. Fox's father, James McCloud, who was renowned as one of the greatest pilots of his time, was the leader of the original Star Fox team. Upon investigating the planet Venom, James was presumed killed by Andross. Seeking to avenge his father, Fox formed a new Star Fox team which consisted of Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare (who was a member of the original team), and Slippy Toad. Fox alone fought and apparently killed Andross at the end of the adventure.
His headset's microphone also appears on the right side of his face instead of the left side which was the case for all previous appearances except Adventures and Assault.
