+1 for page name - Ceci n’est pas un Smiddle. 17:42, 7 June 2013 (EDT)
I think we should change the name to "First Start" or something like that, and rename the subheadings section. Awesome Cardinal 2000 21:20, 7 June 2013 (EDT)
- I can deal with having to rename the page, but I would still like the acronym to be meaningful. I see no problem with the subsection names. Toomai Glittershine The SMASH-GINEER 18:54, 10 June 2013 (EDT)
Support even though this kind of sounds like the Simplified Ruleset. RoyboyX Talk 22:34, 7 June 2013 (EDT)
- I'm probably biased but I think this is better than that page because it's less generic and more in line with the current culture. Toomai Glittershine The SMASH-GINEER 18:54, 10 June 2013 (EDT)
Support: Bagels. I also have to add to what Tommai said. The simplified ruleset was copied from Wikipedia and doesn't well-reflect SmashWiki. Also, I don't think it gives very good advice. If I were to give advice to a newbie about what or how to edit, this is where I'd point, not the simplified ruleset, as this says exactly what I would say. Another point: I didn't even know the simplified ruleset was here until you mentioned it. We can publicize this better via use of the Welcome Template, the site notice, and/or the main page, and make it more helpful than the simplified ruleset that no one really cares about. DoctorPain99 21:58, 9 June 2013 (EDT), addendum on 19:07, 10 June 2013 (EDT)
Support The simplified ruleset we have is pretty useless and nowhere near as helpful as this for a "simple rulest". Omega Tyrant 02:28, 16 June 2013 (EDT)
Support: This is a very smart idea for a first page for newcomers to visit. Good job, Toomai. DarkFox01is a BitF fan 15:39, 18 June 2013 (EDT)
Support: Well written and isn't too long. Overall, great! Scr7 15:46, 18 June 2013 (EDT)
For the official shortcut, we will use SW:FIRST. I'm debating whether SW:RTFM should be available or not; we don't want to show it to newbies or hair-trigger sourpusses, but it's apt, effective, and can possibly help cleave clueless mules. Once I get some opinions here I see no reason to delay policyfiying this. Toomai Glittershine The Incomperable 23:00, 18 June 2013 (EDT)
- My I ask what the big deal with using SW:RTFM is? DoctorPain99 23:05, 18 June 2013 (EDT)
- Oh never mind, I understand. Maybe we should not list that on the short-cut page but still have it as a shortcut. DoctorPain99 23:06, 18 June 2013 (EDT)
So if we implement this, do we repeal the Simplified Ruleset or leave it be and generally use this? RoyboyX Talk 22:05, 22 June 2013 (EDT)
