The flowers on the Pikmin's head are shown in all forms of development. In the Pikmin games a fully bloomed flower meant a Pikmin was stronger and faster than a Pikmin with just a leaf on its head. In ''Brawl'', Pikmin develop every 20 seconds per maturity stage. This seems to boost their knockback ability and durability. (It doesn't seem to boost damage.)
