Just like Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, and Robin, players can select either male and female variants of Corrin as in fireemblemwiki.

In the English version, the male and female Corrin are voiced by Cam Clarke and Marcella Lentz-Pope, later reprising their roles in the English version of Fates. In the Japanese version, the male and female Corrin are voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki and Satomi Satō, reprising their roles from the Japanese version of Fates.

Additionally, to further compliment Corrin's damage racking game, all of his moves come out very fast, with all grounded, special, and aerial moves (barring Draconic Ascent, which comes out on frame 18) coming out before frame 15, and a good number of moves coming out even earlier than frame 10. This forces opponents to play against Corrin very carefully in the hands of a component player, as one slip-up could allow him to rush in and deal heavy amounts of damage, or even KO if the player manages to space correctly.

While Corrin benefits from having an all-rounded moveset, there are still flaws. One of the biggest issues is how, similar to Marth, Corrin struggles when an opponent is at a close proximity to him. Since most moves are punishable at close range, Corrin is forced to retreat or go for a grab to place an opponent at an optimal distance. The tipper finishing moves also require careful positioning to deal immense knockback; otherwise they deal much lower knockback, giving him a harder time KOing at point blank. Corrin’s smash attacks additionally suffer from noticeable ending lag, which hinder his otherwise useful spacing ability, while his strongest and safest aerial, his back aerial, has noticeable startup. Dragon Fang Shot, while being a powerful combo when both stages are used together, has rather high ending lag, preventing true followups at a distance with uncharged shots.

While Corrin’s grab is fast, his grab game is overall lacking, despite possessing a strong pummel, as it has poor reach and throws that prevent followups due to unfavorable angles and high ending lag, with only up and down throws being able to KO at reasonable percents. His recovery is also lackluster without his second jump, as Draconic Ascent gives only moderate diagonal distance, while Dragon Lunge is unable to aid in recovery unless there is a wall to pin against. Finally, Corrin's tall frame and moderate gravity make him susceptible to aerial combos and juggling, similar to other fighters from Fire Emblem, while below average ground speed makes it difficult to approach faster characters without use of Dragon Fang Shot and Dragon Lunge.

Lastly, just like the other DLC characters, Corrin completely lacks custom specials, although this is rather negligible due to his special moves already having good utility.

All in all, Corrin has an array of options to keep opponents away at a distance, unlike many other swordsmen from the Fire Emblem series, and has a dependable combo game that can be started from nearly any aerial or tilt, making him quite threatening at most ranges. However, due to the precision needed for finishers, he plays optimally by keeping a good distance from opponents once they are at KO percentage in order to finish them as early as possible.

|fsmashdesc=Extends the free arm into a spear with Dragon Fang and thrusts it forward. Tremendous reach, being the longest reaching non-projectile forward smash in the game while it can also be angled, making it good for catching opponents trying to return to the stage when angled up or hitting crouching/small opponents when angled down. The sweetspot is at the tip and deals very high knockback, KOing at 108%, although the rest of the attack is considerably weaker. Has a hitbox while charging, where Corrin holds Omega Yato in front of him as the chainsaw blades start to move to repeatedly damage opponents in range, and though this does not lead into the sweetspot, it can catch opponents for a fully charged blow. However, the Yato's hitbox is rather easy to Smash DI out, as doing so upward can allow the opponent to avoid the main attack with a well-timed air dodge, while doing so towards Corrin will cause enemies to end up behind him if close enough. Based on the second hit of the Dragon Fang skill in Fire Emblem Fates.

A stall-then-fall drill that meteor smashes weakly with set knockback, excluding the landing hit which deals moderate upwards knockback, both in the air and when landing. As a result, it works better when used for a sacrificial KO, or to quickly punish actions air-to-ground. If the move is used immediately after hitstun ends, Corrin will drop downwards significantly slower during the move, allowing it to hit up to 9 times if timed well. One of the most damaging aerial attacks in the game, dealing 19% should all hits connect.

Tier placement and history
Corrin was, along with Bayonetta, one of the only two characters to miss out on the first 4BR tier list, due to them being available two days after the tier list was released. Upon release, Corrin was deemed to be a viable, if unusual, mold-breaking character, due to the extreme reach of his attacks granting him a strong neutral game. Corrin's release, however, was ultimately overlooked and overshadowed by the simultaneous release of Bayonetta and her great status in competitive play, causing his standing among the cast to be debatable, moreso after the nerfs he received in update 1.1.5, most notably to Counter Surge. Despite this, a healthy amount of representation in tournaments followed, namely from smashers like Cosmos, Earth and Ryuga, and their results were strong enough for Corrin to be ranked at 18th on the second 4BR tier list.
As the metagame progressed, however, Corrin would be studied further, which would follow into several KO confirms and neutral game optimizations that allowed Corrin's results to bloom much more. This burst of results was reflected on him rising on the third tier list, at 13th. However, after repeated appearances among the Top 8 of major tournaments from Cosmos (who also upset ZeRo at The Big House 7), opinions on Corrin have shifted to that of a top tier, rather than a high tier character. Regardless, Corrin remains on the 13th spot on the fourth and final tier list, still at the high tier.

*Cosmos - By far the greatest Corrin player of all-time, as he has achieved results that no other Corrin players have ever come close to, including becoming the the first and only Corrin player to win a major, doing so at The Big House 8; becoming the only Corrin player to take a set off of ZeRo, doing so to place 3rd at The Big House 7; and being the highest-ranking Corrin player on the PGR 100, ranking 30th. He especially became one of the best Smash 4 players in the world in the game's final year, with many top 8 finishes at the year's largest events such as 3rd at CEO 2018 and 4th at Super Smash Con 2018.
*Earth - Known throughout competitive Smash 4 for using Pit, but had a noteworthy Corrin that he eventually picked up as a co-main and became one of the best Corrin players in Japan. He used Corrin alongside Pit to place 2nd at Sumabato 14, 5th at Umebura 27, and 7th at Sumabato 18. Though still primarily ranked as a Pit player, he is the only other Corrin player ranked in the top 50 on the PGR 100, ranking 42nd.
*Frozen - One of the best Corrin players in North American at her peak in 2016 and 2017. She is best known for placing 9th at Royal Flush, defeating both Marss and ANTi along the way. In addition, she saw several other noteworthy performances during those years, including placing 7th at Olympus, placing 9th at KTAR XVIII, and defeating ESAM at The Big House 6. Although never ranked on the PGR, she was ranked 86th on the alternative 2016.
*MkLeo - Though more well known for using other characters, he briefly used Corrin as a secondary in the second half of 2017, and was one of the best Corrin players in the world. He often used Corrin as a counterpick for the Bayonetta matchup, using him to defeat Salem to place 2nd at CEO 2017 and 3rd at Super Smash Con 2017, as well as defeating both CaptainZack and Mistake for one game to place 2nd at 2GGC: SCR Saga. In addition, he also used primarily Corrin to win The Arena 2017.
*Ramses - One of the best Corrin players in Europe, known for having more of a presence outside of his home country of the Netherlands. He is best known for placing 9th at both Albion 2 and Albion 3, defeating IxisNaugus in the latter event, as well as his win over SuperGirlKels at Syndicate 2017, placing 17th overall.
*Ryuga - The second-best Corrin player in North America in 2016 and 2017. He is especially known for his performances during the PGR v4 season, when he defeated Larry Lurr at 2GGC: Fire Emblem Saga to place 17th, CaptainZack at Super Smash Con 2017 to place 25th, and Locus at The Big House 7 to place 25th, in addition to defeating Cosmos in the Corrin ditto at Midwest Mayhem 9: Old vs New. He was ultimately ranked 86th on the PGR 100 as the only other solo-Corrin player on the rankings.
*Space - One of the best Corrin players in Europe, though most of his tournament activity was relegated to the Netherlands. He has placed top 8 at a slew of Dutch events, including 2nd at Fortuna and 3rd at both Elysium II and Smash Session: Final Encore. He was ranked 14th on the European Smash 4 Power Rankings, several places higher than Ramses.
*YOC - The best Corrin player in Japan during his peak in 2016, best known for winning Rikabura 5 over KEN, placing 7th at Umebura 23 defeating RAIN, and placing 13th at Umebura 24 defeating Kirihara. He eventually dropped Corrin for Cloud, but returned to co-maining both characters by 2018 with mixed success.
*Zackray - Co-mained Corrin alongside Bayonetta and was the best Corrin player in Japan in the game's final year. He was Smash 4s final prodigy and rising star, as he won both Sumabato 27 and Sumabato Smash 4 Final and placed 3rd at Umebura 34 and 7th at Umebura 33 during the final few months of competitive Smash 4, all the while defeating many of Japan's established Smash 4 players. He was ranked 88th on the PGR 100.

Despite this, a healthy amount of representation in tournaments followed, namely from smashers like Cosmos, Earth and Ryuga, and their results were strong enough for Corrin to be ranked at 18th on the second 4BR tier list.

*Cosmos (#30) - The best Corrin player in the world. Placed 1st at The Big House 8, 3rd at both The Big House 7 and CEO 2018, 4th at Super Smash Con 2018, and 5th at 2GG: Hyrule Saga with wins over players such as ZeRo, Nairo, and MkLeo.
As the metagame progressed, Corrin would be studied further, which would follow into several KO confirms and neutral game optimizations that allowed his results to bloom significantly. This burst of results was reflected on him rising on the third tier list, at 13th. However, after repeated appearances among the top 8 of major tournaments from Cosmos and his win over ZeRo at The Big House 7, opinions on Corrin have further improved to that of a top tier, rather than a high tier character. Regardless, Corrin remains on the 13th spot on the fourth and final tier list, still at the high tier, although many players have argued he should have been ranked higher, especially with Cosmos becoming an established top player and winning The Big House 8 in the game's final year.
*Earth (#42) - Co-mained Corrin alongside Pit and is one of the best Corrin players in Japan. Placed 2nd at Sumabato 14, 5th at Umebura 27, 7th at Sumabato 18, 9th at Umebura T.A.T., and 13th at Frame Perfect Series 2 with wins over players such as KEN, Ranai, and Kirihara.
*Frozen - The best Corrin player in New York. Placed 7th at Olympus, 9th at both Royal Flush and The Legend of Glentendo, 17th at Super Smash Con 2016, and 25th at Collision XV with wins over players such as ANTi, Marss, and ESAM.
*MkLeo (#1) - Used Corrin as a secondary alongside Marth and Cloud, and was one of the best Corrin players in the world but has since dropped the character. Placed 1st at both The Arena 2017 and Smash Factor 6, 2nd at CEO 2017, 3rd at Super Smash Con 2017, and 5th at Shine 2017.
*Ramses - One of the best Corrin players in Europe. Placed 5th at both NHSmash 3 and Smash Session: Final Encore, 9th at both Albion 2 and Albion 3, and 17th at Syndicate 2017 with wins over players such as Ixis, SuperGirlKels, and Purple~H. Ranked 21st on the European Smash 4 Power Rankings.
*Ryuga (#86) - One of the best Corrin players in the United States. Placed 9th at Midwest Mayhem 9: Old vs New, 13th at both UGC Smash Open and Showdown: Battle Royale 2, and 17th at both Frostbite 2017 and 2GGC: Fire Emblem Saga with wins over players such as Larry Lurr, Ally, and Cosmos.

Placed 7th at Umebura 23 , 13th at both Sumabato 8 and Umebura 24, and 25th at both Umebura 25 and 2GGC: Fire Emblem Saga with wins over players such as KEN, Kirihara, and Rain.

**Corrin almost didn't make it into Smash 4, as Sakurai had thought there were already too many Fire Emblem characters in the game. However, after the critical and commercial success of Fire Emblem Fates in Japan and in anticipation for the game's worldwide localization, the team convinced them that Corrin would be a unique addition to the roster, so Sakurai allowed him to be playable.
