Smasher:KoDoRiN: Difference between revisions

KoDoRiN emerged as a national contender in Melee in 2019, being placed on the Global Top 100 for the first time due to strong peformances in SoCal, advancing to bracket in majors [[Shine 2019]] and [[Mainstage]], and placing 4th at [[GENESIS: BLACK]] by winning 5 sets in a row in losers (including ending {{Sm|Hungrybox}}'s "Genghis Juan" run of using characters other than Jigglypuff) before falling to {{Sm|Lucky}}. He continued to improve throughout online tournaments held due to the pandemic, culiminating at [[Rollback Rumble: THE BIG ONE]], a qualifer for [[Smash Summit 11]], where first place would earn a spot. KoDoRiN would advance to winners finals after taking sets off {{Sm|Magi}} and {{Sm|S2J}}, but would lose to {{Sm|Wizzrobe}} and {{Sm|2Saint}} to finish the event in third. Due to {{Sm|Leffen}} and {{Sm|Pipsqueak}} dropping out of Summit 11 due to issues traveling to the United States, the 2nd and 3rd place finishers would be invited to Summit as well, punching KoDoRiN's ticket.

KoDoRiN's peformance at Summit included wins over {{Sm|Moky}} and {{Sm|SFAT}} to finish 9th. The return to mostly in-person events would coincide with KoDoRiN's rise to be among Melee's elite. He placed in 3 concecutive major top 8s at [[Riptide]], [[SWT: NA West Melee Regional Finals]] and [[Mainstage 2021]] to close out 2021. His run at Mainstage included a win over {{Sm|iBDW}} and 2 wins over {{Sm|SFAT}} to place third, qualifing him for [[Smash Summit 12]]. Top 8 finishes at [[Pound 2022]], [[Smash Summit 13]], and [[Battle of BC 4]] in addition to a 9th place finish at [[GENESIS 8]], cemented KoDoRiN's place in the top 10 of the Global rankings once they resumed in 2022.
