This article is about the real-life region in Japan. For other uses, see Kanto (disambiguation).

Kantō is a Japanese Smash region, coterminous with the traditional region of Kantō, which includes the prefectures of Gunma, Tochigi, Ibaraki, Saitama, Tokyo, Chiba, and Kanagawa. The region is mostly coextensive with the Tokyo metropolitan area, which is considered the most populated urban region in the world, naturally translating to a very large pool of competitive Super Smash Bros. players and tournaments hosted; consequently, Kantō is regarded by many as the strongest region in the whole world, rivaled within Japan only by Kansai, and is the region where most of the largest supermajors outside of North America (such as Umebura, Kagaribi and EVO Japan) are held. The region is also occasionally referred as East Japan, especially historically in regards to its Melee scene. Additionally, it is the home of Smash creator Masahiro Sakurai and original developer HAL Laboratory.
