At 212 entrants, this was the largest recorded singles Smash event held in the Dominican Republic until Blink Respawn 2022, and still remains one of the largest Smash singles events in the Caribbean.
This event is best known for Sharpyzard's victory with Charizard, a character who was widely regarded as non-viable at that time. After losing to DigitalStrider in winner's semis, he was able to come back and take the event after defeating Capitancito, Papin, Stark, and DigitalStrider twice. Sharpyzard's success at BeSmash 2016, alongside other strong performances with Charizard both in the Domincan Republic and in the United States, was one of the reasons for Charizard's rise on the third tier list.
