:The protection doesn't change much since non-autoconfirmed users already didn't have the ability to create an RfA subpage. Being able to add themselves to the list but not create the subpage was a mismatch whereby a user could get stuck halfway through the process (which has happened in the past). So now the abilities are proudly synced up. Whether it should be an actual rule or not is up for debate, but as it is now they just need someone to help them with it. --Porplemontage (talk) 18:40, August 28, 2020 (EDT)

Search
I was wondering if the old way of searching (that is to say, by page source instead of actual text) could be brought back as an option. <span style="font-family:Formata Regular"><span style="color:red">Rick</span><span style="color:green">Tommy</span></span> 07:18, February 1, 2021 (EST)

Watchlist expiry
Could you please consider enabling watchlist expiry? The relevant config is $wgWatchlistExpiry. This would be useful for cases like only watching an active talk page conversation. Thanks in advance. ihaveahax (talk) 18:48, February 1, 2021 (EST)
Bots on Recent Changes
I noticed PorpleBot and SmashWiki Bot both did runs recently, however none of their edits show in RecentChanges even though I enabled the setting to view bot edits. --CanvasK (talk) 09:00, February 11, 2021 (EST)
:Bit of a necro-post, but second-verse same as the first deal. I checked both the JavaScript and non-JavaScript layout and they're the same. They appeared when you fixed it last time I mentioned it, but at some point it stopped working. Actions that are recorded in the logs will appear (such as SWBot's recent protection spree and PB's category renaming), but none of the text edits appear. --CanvasK (talk) 22:38, August 26, 2021 (EDT)
Sig
So hi I am Pokemon trainer Green, you may know me on the mario wiki as Bubbasour11 just wondering if I can make my sig if I am not a autoconfirmed user? (here is me on the mario wiki: https://www.mariowiki.com/User:Bubbasour11) <small>—Preceding unsigned comment added by Pokemon trainer Green (talk • contribs) 12:47 EST, July 8, 2021</small>
:You can create a custom signature in preferences at any time. see SW:SIG for the rules. <span style="font-family:Algerian;font-size:10pt;background:#000;border:outset #083 2px;padding:1px 3px"><span style="color:#083">Serpent</span>&nbsp;&nbsp;<span style="color:#ed0">King</span></span> 14:34, July 8, 2021 (EDT)
Um so no I can not make one untill I can make a page so I half to put in the code untill I can. OK. <small>—Preceding unsigned comment added by Pokemon trainer Green (talk • contribs) 17:26 EST, July 9, 2021</small>
:You don't need to make a page to make a sig. Go to Preferences, User Profile, Signature. You should be able to customize your sig there. You'll also probably want to select the "Treat signature as wikitext" button. Additionally, using templates in your sig is not allowed nor is using mainspace images. You can read more about it here. --CanvasK (talk) 17:35, July 9, 2021 (EDT)
About night mode...
To begin, I wasn't necessarily bothered by that "glitch" (or perhaps it was a test?) with the pages showing up with white-on-black CSS. I think night mode's value goes beyond aesthetics; it's easier on the eyes in low-light situations. So I was wondering, would you ever consider actually implementing it as an option for users to toggle in their preferences? I wanted to see your thoughts; I don't know much about CSS, so assuming it's not more work than it's worth, I think it would be a nice touch. <font face="Trebuchet MS"><span style="color:#0000a5">Blue</span> <span style="color:#0000a5">Ninjakoopa</span></font> 20:45, November 2, 2021 (EDT)
:Yes, the experimental night mode that you saw can be enabled here. --Porplemontage (talk) 20:49, November 2, 2021 (EDT)

Template optimization
I've been working on one of the trophy templates to expand its functionality and I noticed that one method (with no nested if-statements) has a higher "preprocessor visited node count" but significantly lower "post-expand include size" compared to another method (with nested if-statements). When used 58 times: preproc: 14,648 (current) vs 16,618 (method 1) vs 16,150 (method 2); post-expand: 280,460 (current) vs 306,023 (method 1) vs 382,466 (method 2)). My question is: should I prioritize reducing one value more than the other? Or any of the other values in the profiling data? Between the two, the "CPU time usage" deviates within 0.08 seconds and the resulting HTML difference is less than 100 bytes. --CanvasK (talk) 08:13, September 8, 2022 (EDT)
:I would say that reducing CPU time usage is ultimately best, but that value will vary a certain percentage on every parse. In this case the difference seems insignificant, so I would just go with whichever syntax you like better. --Porplemontage (talk) 11:19, September 8, 2022 (EDT)
