In March 2008, Gideon sold Smash World Forums to [[Major League Gaming]] for an undisclosed sum, which led to the shutdown of the various fansites he had founded. The money earned through the sale of the website would help Gideon pay for college and medical school. Since then, Gideon has had no known active involvement with the ''Smash'' community.

Since then, the site's forums, [[Smashboards]] have become one of the most prominent competitive Smash Bros. communities, with over 100,000 registered users and 6 million posts. The site was mentioned in a ''Nintendo Power'' interview in the September 2005 issue.
