With the move reason, no one says "main fighter", so moving from "main character" to "main fighter" because "no one says it" is not a good reason, and people generally say "characters", not "fighters" anyway. I also do not see what's "better" about "fighter", everyone knows what you mean with "character" in this context and other fighting games follow the same terminology with just calling them characters. Yet another issue i see with this naming convention is that "main character" could also be easily mistaken as meaning 'protagonist' at a glance, this discussion hasn't exactly reached a conclusion since December 2020, i would say just make the move, i doubt that anybody would really lose sleep over it.
