:I seriously don't see how documenting occurrences within the community would give the wiki negative publicity. If anything the wiki is already suffering from a stagnant negative reception as it lacks any form of contact with the community. I also don't think it's very difficult at all to determine which particular events would be notable or not regardless of recency. For example, COVID-19 knocked out an entire year of in-person Smash tournaments and significantly boosted the popularity of netplay. The sexual misconduct allegations resulted in the departure of many notable individuals throughout the community and a heightened sense of security. In our most recent case, years upon years of information was unearthed describing how Nintendo and other corporations prevented the growth of the community and many times significantly harmed it. Now I'm indifferent on whether this should stay as a template or a category, but I firmly support keeping it up in some form. ::What did you mean by the wiki "lacking any form of contact with the community"? People still use the wiki. Once in a blue moon, a pro player will even edit it. I don't understand. [[User:Anthony1996|Anthony1996]] ([[User talk:Anthony1996|talk]]) 01:39, December 8, 2020 (EST)

:::SmashWiki has virtually no social media presence. In the world of today social media is a vital necessity for most if not all communities. For us it'd allow admins or whoever else would run the social media channels to be able to talk about current events on-wiki as well as gain community trust by simply interacting with the community. The only efforts I've seen of this happening was when Aidan tackled the sexual misconduct situation. The wiki is deeply disconnected from the rest of the community. Some general comments from me (addressing the whole page, rather than anyone specific):
*While I don't think that the mainspace is the absolute best place for information like this to go...I'm not sure of where else it ''could'' go. There's no dedicated namespace for stuff like this, and to create one would seem superfluous.

:I also agree that there's a chance it could turn into a List of rumors type of thing, but I don't think the list of rumors page is that big of a deal. It seems that nearly all the Ultimate rumors have been reliably cited or linked to the original source. And even so, it's not like the page itself is unreadable or anything, it's well organized into different subsections and everything. I believe that the benefits of having the information displayed here outweigh the drawbacks. I would rather as a wiki decide what counts as "notable" instead of deleting these kinds of lists altogether (on an informative encyclopedia it's impossible to completely avoid all forms of subjectivity anyways). In addition, deliberately removing events like the sexual misconduct allegations from a significant events would feel like censorship in my opinion. :In addition canceled tournaments like TBH Online should still have their own pages, the wiki goes by a "once notable always notable" policy, just because the event is not happening anymore doesn't mean the preparations and hype leading up to the event go away as well. ::I wouldn't be opposed to this so long as we keep it consistent. The reason I chose to create a new article instead of keeping it on the tournament page was because A) we have historically deleted cancelled tournament pages and I wanted it to stay consistent and B) as I've said many times before the situation that unfolded has expanded well beyond just the tournament. Once again though an amendment to [{SW:Notable]] describing this would be nice to have things set in stone.
