Due to team Florida's composition, he sat out due to the strong anti-Marth composition that the Floridian crew had. Although his image was shown on the preview of the crew battles, he was mistaken to be fellow Canadian smasher {{Sm|Vanitas|p=Canada}}. There is strong speculation that the influence of Zain's recent performance taking a major netplay tournament with Roy had an impact on this decision, as well as both players' competencies in dashing back and grabbing opponents near the corner. Liquid entered the tournament under a different alias, known as "imyourroy", which would cause discussion and viewers in the twitch chat on who this hero was. imyourroy would lose to local smash celebrity, Quiggles in round 2 but then go on a loser's run of a lifetime. In his run, he managed to defeat wally, Ligma, Erik, and come to a close and nail-biting game 5 with PR player Rabbit. Rabbit, was initially cautious and alert about who this fire wielding vagrant was. Upon discovering it was Liquid, Rabbit felt at ease, as he was able to visualize the player he was playing, all the times Rabbit had friendly banter with Liquid, remembering previous habits, and even hearing the iconic and contagious laughter of Liquid. It demonstrated for Rabbit, that the power of friendship prevailed, even in the darkest of times.
