::Well, the Super Castlevania IV design is more distinctly blue with light brown hair, while the Ganbare Goemon design is more distinctly purple and dark brown hair. Additionally, it's worth noting that all seven of Simon's other recolors are based off of various iterations of himself, rather than other characters in the series (as Richter's recolors are.) I think that's reason to believe the eighth recolor is likely based on a design on him as well.
