Hi! It says Smashdown is one of the wanted pages, and I think I can cover what we know about it, but I'm not a full user, so I can't create pages. If you could create the page, I could probably build it. Thank you. 72.133.91.93 16:46, 18 August 2018 (EDT)Blueflame105

Super Smash Bros Ultimate ESRB rating
Hi there, can I ask you a question in regarding the SSBU's ESRB rating? My question is In the 2nd and 3rd game between Melee and Brawl it was rated T for Teen. So currently, the failed veterans from Melee and Brawl have returned in Smash Bros Ultimate. Is Super Smash Bros Ultimate "Rated T for Teen"? I just need to know about the rating. If the ESRB rating says SSBU is Rated T for Teen it will be just like Melee and Brawl. I am quite sure that Ultimate is rated T for Teen. If you got the answer reply me ASAP. I will forward to your answer if the T for Teen rating is confirmed by the ESRB. Thanks for your consideration. Bye. 23.16.164.112 02:37, 23 August 2018 (EDT)

Question about making a signature.
So, if I wanted my signature to have two character icons (character heads) to the left and right my username (if allowed), what exactly would I do? Would I have to upload those icons as files for usage, or no?
For example, am I allowed to do this with SSBU icons (sorry about no signature for the other comment). Iridium77 (talk) 13:52, 26 August 2018 (EDT)
:You technically aren't allowed to use mainspace images in a sig, but you are able to upload them separately as a duplicate file to use in your sig instead. You would change this by putting it as text in your preferences, under the signature section. Are you referring to the voice actors and how it's not confirmed that they'll be voicing Simon in SSBU? If that's the case I apologize but I didn't add that part in - it was already there and was just trying to rephrase it. <b><span style="color: black;">John</span></b> <b><span style="color: red;">HUAH!</span></b> 22:14, 28 August 2018 (EDT)

Instant KO vs. OHKO split
Hello! I believe you've already seen my article split proposal here. The motivation behind this proposal is that we have not documented a rather significant feature of Smash 4 and Ultimate, and we have an outdated "Instant KO" redirect to "One-hit KO" even though numerous articles across the wiki use "instant KO" or "instantly KO'd" to refer to the true instant death effect I want to make this article about. Other articles awkwardly work around this by cross-referencing each other; for example, saying things like "KO'd similar to an Orne" while the Orne article says "KO'd similar to Bayonetta's Infernal Climax."

We can fix all this by just discarding the redirect and creating the new article in its place. However, since the proposal itself is largely inactive, with no formal support or opposition votes, and my attempt to tag the Instant KO redirect for deletion was reverted (by a non-admin user), I wanted to try contacting you directly.

I don't think there's any serious argument that "Instant KO" is more strongly tied to "One-hit KO" than it is the actual instant KO effect that has existed since Brawl, and been greatly expanded in Smash 4 and Ultimate. Even Smash 4 and Ultimate Nintendo Directs have used "instantly KO" when talking about Danger Zones and Death's Scythe. Therefore, I am fairly confident that consensus would validate me on this one. But I only seem to be reaching 4-ish people, most of whom are either neutral or in agreement, and only 1 of whom is deadset against the split (citing a "consensus" that seems more like a "that's the way it's always been" hand-wave than a reference to actual recent public consensus on the issue).

How can we move forward on this? SuperFalconBros (talk) 15:16, 2 September 2018 (EDT)
:Well, if you want more people to notice it, perhaps you should consider bumping it, and maybe also marking it as a proposal instead of a general forum discussion. That way, people will know that it's important and not just a general conversation that they can ignore. <span style="color: blue;">Aidan</span>, <span style="color: blue;">the Rurouni</span> 15:54, 2 September 2018 (EDT)
::I wasn't aware I needed to add a tag like that. Thank you! That said, assuming the proposal doesn't get any attention, I assume that means it's just de facto considered rejected? SuperFalconBros (talk) 23:04, 2 September 2018 (EDT)

Alternate costumes
Why are you removing alternate costumes sections from the SSBU articles, when they are present on every character article for the other games? <span style="color: blue;">Alex</span> the <span style="color: red;">Jigglypuff trainer</span> 06:53, 19 September 2018 (EDT)
:Because we don't keep individual renders for each costume; we have one image, in each game in the series. What was being added was completely unnecessary, and, if followed through for the official release, would have had large images covering the alts shown literally right above them, which is also kind of redundant. == Hell Hawk ==

Your reason doesn't make sense to me. The Switch being region-free doesn't mean they're going to abandon localization. The game still has to be localized to English, and there's no reason for them to suddenly half-effort it. They aren't going to suddenly start leaving parts of the game untranslated, for example.

The costume's text has, ever since its introduction, been localized to "BLOOD HAWK" in the US. In Smash 4, they even specifically did it for the US, as it was left alone as "HELL HAWK" for the EU English version. I don't believe that the existence of one pre-release screenshot (which also exists on the Japanese website) is evidence that any change is being made to the localization this time.
:Region-locked is when there is something preventing a game from being taken from one country to another. The Switch is region-free, which allows people to purchase games from other countries (such as the physical release of Ōkami HD that, for some inexplicable reason, is exclusive to Japan) and play them on their own consoles.

:I bring this up with Falcon because, since it's region-free, there wouldn't be major things such as texture changes (i.e., "Hell Hawk"), and instead minor things such as text translations and voice clips and whatnot. But, then again, the DS was also region-free, and R.O.B. had a different appearance in Japanese Mario Kart DS, so what the hell do I know? <span style="color: blue;">Aidan</span>, <span style="color: blue;">the Rurouni</span> 21:57, 30 September 2018 (EDT)
::Right, my point is that just because it isn't region-locked, that doesn't mean that games don't have localization. If that were the case, we'd have to be playing Switch games in Japanese since there wouldn't even be an English option. The fact that the Switch is region-free is largely unrelated from the localization of games themselves.

::The texture changes are just another part of localization, and always have been. For instance, there's the Animal Crossing stages, which need the text on the buildings translated. The "BLOOD FALCON" change (which due to its nature I'd argue is more of a text-based change than a major texture one) has existed from its introduction, to match the US name in the source material. Again, I don't think that one unlocalized, pre-release screenshot is a sign that it's going to change, and I don't think the Switch being region-free reasonably implies this either.

::It's my belief that due to the lack of evidence for any change to the costume, stating that it has changed on the article is speculation. It would be better to simply state nothing on the matter until either the game is released or there is compelling evidence.

I disagree. Most people use Bowser Bomb on stage, but one of those IPs raised the interesting point that the grounded version is a literal setup-and-spike. At the very least, writing it down as a change without any explanation as to why is extremely confusing. I still strongly assert that having them as a sub-point is best.
