It is performed by inputting a dash in one direction, then immediately tapping the control stick in the opposite direction and quickly letting it return to neutral.

Perfect pivoting acts somewhat as a more limited version of the [[wavedash]], as it allows a character to move backward whilst facing forwards and perform any grounded action out of it. Meta Knight can [[glide]] straight over any [[edge]] without grabbing it. This can be used for [[mindgame]]s or to simply [[approach]] the opponent from an offstage position quicker. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08rIiwOJjtE&t=1237s Notice how Kakera (white MK) glides straight at the edge and doesn't grab it, and doesn't even have to hold down to go over it].
To perform this technique, start a glide, glide down a bit so Meta Knight can go up, and then, instead of holding up on the [[control stick]] to glide upwards, tilt and hold the control stick diagonally down and in the opposite direction of which Meta Knight is gliding (if gliding towards the left ledge, tilt and hold the control stick diagonally down and left, and if gliding towards the right ledge, tilt and hold the control stick diagonally down and right). If done correctly, Meta Knight should glide right up at the ledge and over without grabbing it.
