The line about creating an account needs to be removed - that's only appropriate if the user is an IP, and there's actually a separate template for that. This was fleetingly discussed in December, but nothing was actually done about it. I think that the entire line should be removed. At the moment the template doesn't really make sense, which isn't doesn't create the best first impression for a new user. :As much as getting users on the IRC for conversations is a good thing, I think in this case it's not a great idea.  When a new contributor shows up, it is more important that they get comfortable with the editing of this wiki.  Once they start conversations, we can mention to them that it might be better to take some conversations to the IRC.  But new contributors shouldn't feel like they can't ask about editing, and I worry that telling them to talk to the user that put up the welcome template on the IRC will do just that.  We should let them figure out SmashWiki, then get them involved on the IRC. 	You aren't logged in. While it's not a requirement to create an account, doing so makes it a lot easier to keep track of your edits and a lot harder to confuse you with someone else. If you edit without being logged in, your IP address will be recorded in the page's edit history.
