He has creative and fast use of platform shield-drop up air chains (dubbed the ''Amasawa-loop'') and has taken games against many top players in Japan including {{Sm|Red}}, the top {{SSB|Mario}} in Japan, as well as even matches against {{sm|Isai}} back when he visited Hokkaido in 2006. This is also remarkable as Donkey Kong is considered to be the worst character in the Japanese version, having no favorable matchups.
